no, it doesn' matter, I'd still hang around here...but I've gotta admit I really like the beat the prick contest...a lot of fun...

If you have contests, bring 'm on. In this case that fluffy Olympic thought holds true. It really is about participating. Betting is competitive, but it is day to day. The continuity of a contest makes it personal and longterm, so that each participant helps the others to bring out the best in themselves. Nothing can help cappers to become better faster than a competition.
(Just talking in general. Haven't looked at the contests here yet.)

Beat the Prick was a great added source of interest on football Saturdays/Sundays.
Contests aren't a make-or-break factor in my using this forum but they are a nice bonus.

i personaly could care less about the contests, but then again i'm not a contest type of guy though.
it's not so much how many contests a forum has. it's a matter of unique contest ideas forums come up with, where you can maximize the posters playing in them.

Yes - I like them. Will the Prick contest be back next year?

I like all the contest (cris and vip) bowmans cheap piece of crap only giving one prize to one winner a week comparing to cris giving out 20 a week and vip 10 for the SB contest.

We are working on getting a baseball contest going, and if we come up with one. It will go on when the NBA is going on, most likely. So you may not need to wait for a baseball contest unitl the end of the NBA season.Originally Posted by presley177

Mudcat...I'm exactly the same way...if I participate in a contest I care a lot more about my contest picks then I do about my bet picks...which are often different due to the structure of contests...I'm now leery of participating because of the way it shifts my focus.
I was reading the autobiography of a commodity trader the other da called Pit Bull. The guy was a fantastically successful trader, but then they started a contest and he became obsessed with it even though the prize was a pittance of his income. As he put it, "Winning is a great balm for confidence, but only public recognition can stroke an ego."
I think paid entry contests, though, if they were done right could be the next frontier for sports books because it would give them a chance to market something like public recognition. The pull of poker is now tied as much to the dream of celebrity as it is to the fantasy of cash.
