Default Worst NFL vs the Best College

If you took the worst NFL starter at each position and played that team against the best College players in the country, would the game be close? Could the college team win?

This is a no brainer. Unreal.

The best college would go pro and dominate the next season.

Agree. Deuce is right, the college team would win

Assuming that the starters for the NFL weren't starting because of injury, I think the NFL would win by multiple TDs.

I think if you put a team like Georgia up against the Miami Dolphins, Georgia would win..

This thread does pose an interesting question. The first thing that crossed my mind when I read it is a little known fact, even among die hard football fans, that the CFL (Canadian Football League) and NFL have actually played 7 inter-league games between 1950 and 1961.

    http://www.mmbolding.com/BSR/Candian...all_League.htm

The NFL won 6 out of 7 of those meeting (however, we won the last one which is certainly most important ) and outscored the CFL 250 to 127 for an average point spread of 17.57 points per game. Only 2 of the 7 Canadian teams involved eventually went to the Grey Cup (the championship game) which would mean that the Canadian teams were about average (the league only had about 9 teams then). Now, if an average (I did not check their records) NFL team could beat an average (again, I did not check) CFL team by 18 points, I would assume that the point spread between the best CFL team and the worst NFL team at the time would have been much closer. Say 7-9 points for the NFL. If the gap can be closed between these 2 leagues to about 7 points that easily, I would think that if the best players in the CFL were up against the worst NFL players of the time, the CFL would reduce that 7 points and might even have been favoured (the fact that the CFl won even one game shows that is possible). In that case, it is not such a big jump to see that the best college players would indeed beat the worst NFLers. My guess is the spread would be by about 14 points.

Another final point I thought of is that isn't the worst player on the worst team in the NFL for a specific position going to be some 2nd or 3rd string fresh out of college kid they are taking a chance on that maybe they picked up at the bottom of the draft list? If this is true, there would be many of his counterparts only 1 year younger than him still in college that get picked up at the top of the draft. If that was done for every position, I can not see how college could not win. Just because someone is in the NFL doesn't make them an NFL calibre player IMHO.

    No,

Miami would run them. It wouldn't even be close.

If Kansas played the Milwaukee Bucks it would be the same decision. Milwaukee would run them.

University of Michigan hockey would get routed by the LA Kings.

Pro is just so much higher skilled play and a different game.

they arent getting paid millions for nothing...if the top college players were that much better than the worst starters in the nfl then they would be getting paid in college...
