Default Post your reasons for the Celtics poor showings on the road...

This team is night and day when on road and at home..

What the hell is it? I have Celtics to win the East and I'm getting worried about the Celtics road woes. What is going on with these team on the road?

Has me puzzled as well...I guess home court means a hell of a lot more in the playoffs.

Someone needs to fire Doc Rivers or recreate the movie Celtic
Pride and kidnap him. The lineput he put out to start the 4th q was awful.

every team in the semi's has struggled on the road. why single out boston?

Single out Boston because they also lost 3 on the road to Atlanta 1st round, they are out of control, one slip up at home and they are done, maybe they just love the game so much they want to play as many games as possible?

and seriously, what this guy said, they've all struggled. But img, i see what you mean, it's tough to see celtics lose to hawks 3 games and not win one on the road. And to sum it up, celts just don't shoot well, i mean what else can be said? They didn't play bad on D tonight, they were fine, they actually played good enough to win the game, just momentum, and cavs knocking the tough/big shots, and boston just not doing so. Cavs got some huge buckets, a couple of big and 1 plays, and they played great down the stretch.

Uh what Celtics finished the season with the best record IN THE NBA and have yet to win a game on the road. All other teams that are still left in the playoffs have at least one road victory thus far..

thats true and boston had a great road record during the season

however, like u said all the other teams have 1. Its not like anyone is dominating the road.

he didn't say playoffs, he said semi's, which in your case, there is only one team with a road victory in the semi's.

I have no clue why the Celtics can't win on the road but they are the #1 seed and will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. They don't need to win on the road but they will need to win all of their home games.

A team with 66 wins, that won 80% of their total games and went 31-10 on the road during the reg season shouldn't have these kind of problems on the road..

ive betted for a long time, and i have never seen so many favorites.i hope the books dont bet busted up,because of so many favorites.to answer your question ,i think they are trying to play physical, and keep the game close.

Exactly...and it's not like we are talking about elite competition in ATL and CLEV. I mean ATL finished 7 games under .500 in a weak conference and Lebron James has done next to nothing.

This, honestly, is a realy mystery how BOS can't put together a solid game. I thought for certain this would be a great spot for them after that beating on Saturday night.

i can see cleveland cuz of lebron

but in atlanta makes no sense.

My best guess: First time the big three have played together in the playoffs. And before that none of them were exactly staples in the playoffs. They know how to be the man but they dont know how to play or should I saw win with two other superstars IN THE PLAYOFFS.

    1. Rivers is a horrible coach. It's mind-boggling for Boston to lose 3 games in a row on the road to Atlanta and then drop 2 consecutive games on the road to the Cavs.

    2. Big 3 played too many minutes during regular season. Allen has struggled with his shot. Pierce hasn't performed all that great. Garnett is the only one out of those three that has actually performed decently. We all know Garnett can't carry a team on his back as evidenced by his years in Minnesota.

    3. Boston is not a deep team. Besides Posey, the other bench players do not get consistent minutes. P.J. Brown and Cassell are washed up. Powe and Big Baby are young and inexperienced. House will never get in because he plays no D and just shoots the ball.

    4. Celtics are overrated and overhyped. Big 3 this, Big 3 that. These guys have won nothing!

    This is PU.

Just woke up here in Kiev. Gotta go to work soon.

I didn't see the game but I take it that Celtics lost again. The reason is simple. They don't have the bodies to compete away from home. Can someone name the best Celtic bench guy? Exactly, noone. No bench means no championship. Cavs will win the series and if not Pistons will slaughter them. Garnett and Pierce are notorious playoff losers in their careers and that will not change soon no matter who's coaching them.

well lebron not shooting well, yes, but atleast he draws attention wherever and whatever he does, which creates other things, unlike rondo, where cavs can just leave him wide open and not even think twice about it...

Pierce not doing well with lebron gaurding him, same can be said for lebron with pierce on him, but hes still doing better than pierce, but just worse than the expected of lebron, so that evens it out. Allen hasn't done shit at all, KG plays well, but thats about it.

Its simple Magic said best. The Big three rely on jumpers, they never take easy shots, they never get to the hoop. The jumpers in the playoffs are well guarded.

Even referring to Garnett, Pierce and Allen as the "Big Three" is ridiculous. Ray's completely one-dimensional and at this point of his career is nothing more than a spot-up shooter that can't create his own shot. Pierce has never hit a big shot in his life and routinely comes up small at the end of games. Garnett can only dominate on one end of the floor. Their 66-win season was entirely a product of the mediocrity that is the Eastern Conference. Very flawed team. Fortunately for the Celtics, they are still the likely favorite to come out of the East. They're not, however, beating the Lakers/Jazz winner in the finals.

because when PJ brown is the only person who can hit a jumper in the 4th quarter you know you have problems

On the road, the Celtics don't go to the away arena for game-day shootarounds. Instead, they do a walk-through at their hotel. "Our guys enjoy the ballrooms," Rivers said.

I think it's because the refs won't let them play the kind of D on the road in the playoffs they were able to play on the road during the regular season.
