What is up with people getting mouthy to me when I dont take a card?
Ill hit on 12 or 13, but most of the time i dont take a card on 14,15,or 16.

Depends on the situation if you think the dealer is going to hit and have to hit again and bust hopefully, that will be good for you. But as far as reguarly staying at 14,15,16 thats not good.

If you are not already employing any proven strategy, the above link will save you a lot of money and in many casinos will bring you within 0.5% of breaking even. If you can learn a very basic card counting system, depending on the house rules, you can expect to make a small profit in the long run.



PS Every casino I have been to (Atlantic City and various Canadian Casinos) allows a person to use a basic strategy card. In other words, cut the card out on the link and bring it with you. In my experience I have found 4 benefits to having the card there:
1) The players at the table perceive me as a beginner (which I am not) and don't give me much flak about "taking the dealers bust card" etc. because they know I am simply following the card. They will blame the card instead of me.
2) The dealers and pit bosses also "seem" to take me for a newbie. I count cards well but having to look at the card gives me an extra second or two to process my count better as well as making the correct play (i.e. no mistakes). A word of warning: the dealers/pit bosses might try and give you "their" strategy card. Thank them gratefully, keep it handy, and do NOT use it.
3) I make a bit of money (usually about 3-4 units an hour if the dealer is going through 100+ hands).
4) I am almost always the last person standing. I might start at a table with 100 units, betting 1-3 units a hand depending on the count and 9 times out of 10, after 8+ hours I have seen 50 people come and go and maybe there is one person who has lasted half as long as I have.

When you bust you might as well play blackjack with yourself because thats all you just did. One of the houses advantages is that they make u make the first move. Hey you get 15 and 12's all the time. Its not insane to think the dealer has a 5 under that queen.

Another thing. say you have a 12. and the dealer is showing a king. the book says hit. Everyone is assuming the dealer has a 20. So the only card that is going to beat that 20 is a 9. Your hitiing to get a 9. thats for suckers. Yes you can hit it occasionally but i think my point shows why sometimes you dont hit it

one more thing. if someone has a 10 or 11 they double down and hope for a 10. Thats because they play the game based on 10's. But if these peole have a 13 they hit???????? Well what makes u think ur gonna get a 10 on a 10 or 11 and not a 13. Thats just stupid to me. If ur gonna play the game based on getting a 10 ona double down why do you think ur god and are not going get a 10 on a thirteen.

i love being the only winner at the table. also i dont even sit down. I play 1-5 hands, make a killing and run. If i got 5000 on a hand and i got a 13 against a queen. I am staying. No way i am gonna hit and hope for an 8 (the only card that will beat the assumed 20). Cuz i'll bust and my 5000 is gone. I'd rather wait for the dealer to bust. If they dont watch the next card out of the shoe. It prolly wouldnt have won it for you anyways

No-one is assuming that the dealer has a 20.

It just so happens that you are statistically better off taking a card in that situation. If you can statistically prove otherwise then I'd be very interested to hear.

are there limits on parlays out there?

I've never been to Vegas but maybe someone else here can advise you on parlay limits. I only play blackjack when I am at the casino's I've been to so I don't know about the sports side at all.

i try to play in the bigger minimum tables I.E 25 or above, I find I usually win with a table who's players play basic stategy. if u got a 2 against a dealers 7 or above take a fvcking hit. if the dealer shows a power card .7 or over and u go0t a 12 or above.... Take a hit. Its not your money when u r playig with other people on the table. If u are Kreskin then ok otherwise..PLAY BASIC STATEGY A_HOLE!

You have just been very lucky. You cannot win like that for an extended period of time. Its like laying -130 on every game you bet

There's two types of people I hate when I'm playing blackjack...

1. Players who jump in mid-shoe multiple times. (ex. They play 3-4 hands, leave the table, go to the table next to us, come back, play another 3-4 hands, go to another table, come back again, etc..). I don't mind if you do it once or twice, especially if you're playing with big money. You're entitled to do what you want if you're playing the table max, imho. I just hate when people bounce back and forth 4-5 times, and they're playing $50 a hand. It screws everyone that's winning at the time.

2. Players that look out for their own interests instead of the interests of the other people at the table. If you want to be a douche, find a dealer with an empty table and play 1 on 1. If everyone at the table is smart enough to play basic blackjack strategy, I personally feel everyone at that table has a better shot at winning. Nothing worse than someone sitting at 3rd base, who has 14, and won't hit with the dealer showing a 6. Then he/she pulls a 3 to get 19 and everyone loses. Meanwhile, the first card next time around is a king.
