Is this how a bookie operates?
Alright. I'm gonna start betting with a bookie, who's also a good friend of mines. He wants me to pay him first before game starts an d if i win then i get it and w.e i won. But the problem is he lives miles away. How often do you think he should pay me? Weekly? Daily?

Yea bro, if I a bookie told me to pay him before the game started, I would tell him to go **** himself. Might be good for you though, that way you dont end up owing a bookie 25k and get killed.

Take it from me, Ive been on both sides. A bookie DOES NOT operate like that. If the guy is your good friend, you might want to find some new friends. Hes trying to rear end you pal.

Bookies, Credit books, Using Credit Card instead of your own Debit card, will only get you into a bad financial situation. I play better with less money, and it ain't hard to covert a small bankroll into a decent one. You shouldn't gamble if you don't have the cash to back it up to begin with.

the normal thing is that u have a cutoff point for a week... say its $500.... say u lose ur 1st bet on monday and it was for $500... if u wanna bet the rest of the week u gotta give him $500.... then u start over..... then u settle up once a week... usually a monday or tuesday, depends on the bookie... NEVER with a local do u give them moey up front

if he's a good friend, then why do you have to trust him, but he doesn't trust you??
lose this guy..
any bookie that asks you to put up the cash up front is an amateur to me..

This sound like a frienship going sower over money. He knows u gamble now he wants to start out right but once he owes a certain amount he can't pay then friendship is over.

I'm betting with a bookie too, and we gather our count weekly, no pay up front, just a phone call. You got no credit my friend, that's why your friend ask you to pay up front. Make some good bets and hope you win, Bol.

His friend knows he is a deadbeat and won't pay. I don't blame him for wanting money upfront.

Bookies take your bet, they book it. If you lose you pay. If you don't lose they pay you. All financials take place AFTER the bet has ended.

A professional book in Vegas makes you put up the money same here. If you are going professional this is the way it is done.

now canny makes a valid point here,'
all other things being equal, he shouldn't pay up front.. HOWEVER, we really don't know the history of this poster here, what if he has a reputation of stiffing every bookie in the city? now what? i know that if i was booking, I'd research every customer and ask around, and if i see a player has a history of not paying or slow paying, i'd certainly tell him, you want to play with me, you gotta show me the cash up front.
maybe this guy here has a history of not paying. we must hear both sides. maybe there's a reason why this bookie wants cash up front. canny might be on to something,
