SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Onterrio Smith, a former NFL running back and Grant High School football standout, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Friday in Sacramento, police said.

Onterrio was booked into jail on a misdemeanor DUI count and a traffic warrant, police Sgt. Matt Young said. Bail was set at $3,746.

Young said Smith was pulled over at 4 a.m. at the intersection of Morrison Avenue and Disk Drive.

Smith played for the Minnesota Vikings for two years. In college, he played for the University of Oregon after being dismissed from the University of Tennessee.

In May of 2005, Smith was stopped in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport for carrying dried urine and a device known as the Original Whizzinator, which is known to be used by people trying to beat drug tests.

In June of that year, Smith was was suspended for the 2005 NFL season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

At one point Tennessee had Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens, and Onterrio Smith all on the roster. Great talent and great people.
