Are we afraid to go outside?? Well partly because gambling promotes anti social behavior and inability to communicate with real people.

I knew a poster way back that basically had a breakdown and never posted or gambled again called Sick Gambler as he stayed home for 3 straight years without even going outside. He was brilliant but snapped and now have no clue what happened to him. I mention him in the vids as a tribute.

The crappy thing about being a professional gambler is that most of the gambling you do is at the night time which is when all your friends are home from work but you have to make some money at night so your nights are usually full. Days are usually empty and boring though because everyone is at work so you just have to hope that you have another friend that is a bum so you have something to do during the day or else you just sleep in until noon and kill half the day that way.
So maybe the gamblers that don't get out of there house don't do it because they don't really have anything to do

I have to agree with you guys but I'd have to say the worst is on Weekends when the days are nice but you got money on that 12:30 game. That's when you know your day is shot

jj, you're in the wrong business. you should be a psychologist. you are right.. i never leave my house. i don't socialize with anyone except forum people. i never leave the house, only to buy bread and milk.. i only order pizza from home.. and i gamble all day.. man, that's scary. it's like you know me.. i haven't been outside in 7 yrs.. i haven't left my computer in 7 yrs.. i don't even know if it's 90 degrees outside or 20 degrees. when there's a snowstorm, to me i don't even know, as i never go outside.

The best invention I ever recieved was my Palm Trio. I have it on ESPN Scores all the time. Plus I get play by play. Only thing is when I'm out in public I'm on it all the time. The wife hates it!

I don't go out much, but poker is the main reason, along with sports betting, poker is such a grind, i mean you have to play probably atleast 3-5 hour sessions. Capping games, browsing picks, etc, probably takes another hour or 2, and still being in high school, not much time to do much else, and if i have nothing to do, or just don't feel like gambling, i'll just go out, get high, drink, or w/e

When i do go outside, i feel its just a waste of time, unless something fun is going on, or i want to see a good movie i've been craving to see, or a party, etc. But just going out to chill? hangout? not for me i guess..? hah

Good points Nicky and I think a lot of people have a similar story to yours I guess the game takes a different toll on everyone, I am 22 and started betting at 15, between 15-18 I was obsessed and stressed out all the time, I have had a change of heart in the past four years though and balance my plays with real life and have little difficulty although I admit the ladies do get distracted when you keep checkin scores had one girl dump me over it haha, but all and all you need to find that balance/juggling act and not let it get in your head I will concede that it is a bit harder to function in society as a very active gambler though because noone understands you unless they gamble as well and that is why these forums are so helpful as well as having a few friends who bet often as I do

I spent about 26 hours this weekend watching games.This includes the 4 OT NHL game last night. Got outside and played some basketball, up 30 units after dropping 15 last week. That's why I joined bookmaker. Hasn't helped, the action (seeing the game on TV) is all consuming. That's when you know you have a problem. It really isn't about winning or losing because I am on a very hot streak and things are kind of the same. Winning feels good but losing sucks and we all lose.

I appreciate some of the candidness of the old timer's on this board. Kind of hard to think this (My behavior) is normal when I read some of their posts regarding how much they regret when it comes to gambling.

Yah man I am sorry that sucks, like I said I gave it a full three years of my life but luckily I was young and as I got older I saw what was happening and could fix it I still miss out on some things because of it but don't let it run my life anymore spend a few hours a week at the track and a few capping games and watch them when I am bored but you have got to tame the beast
