Default Yes, Racehorses get put down! Boo Hoo!

And we eat meat.

This is a [possibly disturbing] video of what happens to horses that can't compete on the track.

They were shooting them in the head with bolts in the video.

You should see how cows are slaughtered "Kosher Style".

I like animals and don't wish to see them suffer , however, I also enjoy meat (VERY MUCH) and have no problem with animals (including horses) being killed to be our delicious food.

MMMMMM, steak!

Right now, my lifestyle does not permit me to be a vegetarian but eventually once I settle down I will do it full time.

I've already made efforts to try to go a few meals without meat or made a conscious effort at restaurants to order vegetarian meals.

It's not easy...but really, it's mainly the suffering that animals go through that has motivated me to make this decision and really nothing else.

The worst part was they were selling Eight Belle burgers at the concession stands afterwards.

I don't think race horses have such a tough life, they're asked to run hard for about one minute once a month, and even then they're really only asked to give maximum effort for about 20 seconds of that race, I'm sure most people would trade with them to have all their needs taken care of in exchange for about one minute of effort a month. Just like with humans, once in a while there's an on the job accident, and once in an even greater while, the accident can be fatal.

Also, if race horses knew they'd get to lead the life of a porn star if they do really well on the track (breeding), they'd be trying a lot damn harder to get to the finish line first, I can promise you that.

i am not one of these people who think animals should have the same rights as humans, but now come on ! when you see a horse with broken a leg that can hardly walk still wanting and tring to race thats bullshit! yeah! THEY LOVE TO RUN THEY LOVE TO RACE,BUT WHY? WE HAVE BRED THEM TO LOVE IT !and all of it for profit of some fat ass who sits on his ass and says well he or shes made us a million or two but has not won one in a while, load them up and get rid of them.[find some way to collect the insurance money, burn the barn or what ever] i love having horses, have had one sence i was 3! just can not imagine anyone being so mean to one of mine! maybe they would one be the one getting ~PUT DOWN~

Im not gonna watch the video, I'll just take your word for it. I think it is inhumane and very disturbing the way some of these slaughterhouses are functioning but I continue to eat meat everyday so I dont guess I can say too much. I wish I had the willpower to become a vegetarian.

I have been a vegetarian for 12 years and vegan for 3. I am not this way because of animal cruelty. I like to go hunting. I just feel much healthier living this lifestyle. Living in Southern California there is so much good food out there that doesn't have meat.

video is ****ing sick and these people should be shot in the head. I use to love greyhound racing but now that i have one and have seen what they do to these animals just for racing, i won't bet on them again. Seeing this horse break its legs on sunday makes me not want to bet on horses every again either. I eat meat and am not a crazy peta person but i do believe that raising animals just to race and for our enjoyment only, kinda sucks for them and maybe we shouldnt do it.

Very disturbing video considering the horses thrash around most the time after receiving the initial bolt.... Not sure how people do that for a living, they must hate life.
