Default If the Celtics lose to the Hawks...

Celtics. This would be the biggest upset in pro sports history, imho.

Not sure about biggest in sports, as Boston overcoming being down 3-0 to Yankees is pretty hard to top, but this would be the biggest in NBA history IMO.

    Easily biggest upset ever

Giants beating Patriots was a very minor upset, Giants kicked the crap out of all the best teams in the playoffs

    Not even close.

In fact, I'm willing to bet that last year's Super Bowl is not even the biggest upset ever involving the Patriots' team. Don't know where or when, but I'm guessing sometime in franchise history they were a bigger fave & lost or bigger dog & won.

Remember that this is a best-of-seven series while the Super Bowl is one game. Based on that, this just might be the biggest upset ever if the Hawks pull it off. But this is a moot point because they won't.

Celtics show what they're made of. Good players with no playoff edge. So would it be a huge upset? Not really. But it won't happen. Not unless game 7 is in Atlanta.

Cant compare undefeated record and loss in the biggest event of them all, to a first round choke in the NBA.

you can. It's called a moneyline.

Celts are laying 20 to 1 for game 7 tomorrow. Pats were only laying 5 to 1 in the SB.

I think the series price was 100-1 after game 2.

People will never forget how close New England was to a perfect season. If Atlanta does pull the upset, do you think people will be talking about it in ten years...probably not.

of course it would be the biggest upset in sports history if ATL win game 7, and by far, too..

BOS were -7000 for the series, and -12000 after game 2.. they had a 30 game lead over ATL.. atl were 8 games under .500..

even if they made a line on BOS being down 3-0 to yanks in 2004, that line would have been NYY -1800/BOS +1400..

this line was -7000.. even NE at home to eagles this past year on monday night and NE being a 24 pt fav and they were only -2300.. and that's the biggest NFL fav of the year. imagine -7000??

by far, the biggest upset in sports history. if ATL win game 7, you will have seen history in the making.

As a huge fans of all Boston teams, believe me, the Patriots loss by far. It really isn't even comparable.

You aren't making a strong case for Boston fans' comprehension of probability.

Let's phrase it this way - which were you more confident of going in: 1) that the Pats would win the Superbowl vs the Giants or 2)that the Celts would dispatch the Hawks in this series?

Are you really telling us the answer is 1?

of course his answer is #2.. i am sure there wasn't one bostonian who wasn't a bit nervous of the Pats not going 19-0 and lose to the Giants. they were shi-tting their pants. but i am sure that every bostonian before this series were wondering who are we going to meet next round?

There is nothing even close, yes this would be the biggest upset in the history of sports. NCAA or pro.

bettilimbroke, the red sox coming back from being down 3-0 was not an upset. You have to look at it from an odds point of view at the start of the series or game. What was the series odds at the start of the Sox/Yankees series?

If the Hawks win tommorrow it will be the biggest upset in the history of sports. The Celtics were the best NBA team in the regular season, they even destroyed the western conference teams at the western teams place. This Celtics team is on paper the best NBA team in a long time.

I'm not entirely convinced this would be a bigger upset than Stanford's win at the Coliseum this year. I don't think there was a moneyline on that game, but I would imagine with a line of roughly 40 and a total of roughly 55 that that would be equivalent to a -12000.
