Default Kentucky Wildcats offer 8th grader:

Sherwood, Calif., eighth-grader Michael Avery has decided to accept a scholarship offer from the Wildcats. He is a 6-foot-4 wing player who, despite his tender age, has reportedly been playing up and faring extremely well with various 17-and-under AAU squads. Some recruiting services have him rated among the nation's top 10 players in his class.

I live in Sherwood and have seen this kid play. He's the real deal. I hear he's going to Oaks Christian Highschool (same school as Jimmy Clause)

Jimmy Claussen was not the best player on his team as a sr.

That's nuts man. Can he actually bypass high school baskets at any point to play for KY or must he have a high school degree or GED?

This is just getting ridiculous, because USC's Tim Floyd did the same thing just last year with an 8th grader.

Ship him right to the NBA. He's got more maturity than some of those guys.

I for one am glad that the NBA put in that 1 year of college rule actually, because that got to become ridiculous. I mean every year we seen more and more high school players trying to attempt it, and it needed to stop IMO.

Bad move by Kentucky, kids mature a lot physically from 14-18. By the time he goes to college he could be an average player as other kids pass him by.
