Default zags deserved a #1 seed

if the zags run the table, i feel they deserved that number 1 seed.

even though this team is ranked #5. i think this team has enough quality wins to be a legit number 1 seed this year.

They'll have to do it on the strength of their non-conference schedule. The WCC won't pull any weight with the committee.

What quality wins? They tried to play a tough schedule and the really tough games that are #1 seed worthy they lost. When you talk of a #1 seed, I don't consider wins over Michigan State, Maryland, Oklahoma State, and Virginia big being that all of those teams will not win their conference. Not to mention, the numerous less than 10 point wins it seems they have had against horrible competition.

Compare that to teams like Texas, UCONN, Villanova, and Duke who play in alot tougher conferences and put up very similar records. What do you think Gonzaga's record would be iif they played in the Big East? Guaranteed they's lose at least 5 conference games. Memphis is kinda the same way, but they've beaten some heavyweights. I believe they beat Texas and lost to Duke by three.

I'm a Zag kinda fan, but I'm a realist too. The fact is everytime recently they are seeded high, they fall early. Back in the late 90's when nobody heard of them is when they made all the noise,

I see the the top line as Duke, Uconn, Nova and Memphis if all stays the same as is today. Uconn being the overall #1. They will never give zaga a #1 with losses to Uconn and Memphis. Zaga to me while has a good resume is a one player team in a weak conference

I hope the Zags get the #2 seed in Duke's bracjket which they probably will as they match up the 2nd strogest 1 seed and the 2rd of 3rd strongest 2 seed. I think that will be a great high scoring game with some clutch shooting.

If the Buckeyes win out in the regular season against PSU and Northwestern, and then go on to win the Big Ten Tourney, they should get that fourth #1. They play in the 1st or 2nd hardest conference depending on how you measure conferences and they overall RPI is #5. Nothing against Memphis, but the Buckeyes have been for real for a while, and it will show in the Tournament. Who would love to see a Villanova/Buckeye matchup? The two best perimeter threats in the nation.

I think they are an underrated team. Just looked at the other
teams and thought that NC could beat all of them. They have\
been a really good team the last 6wks.

Kansas is a team to watch our for. With the exception of saturdays loss to Texas, they have been playing well. They are very young and struggled at the beginning of the season. Not a final 4 team, but capable as a 7 seed to beat a 2 seed in the second round; like the Zags.

I would be all for the Zags getting a #1 seed if they consistantly beat teams in their conference by 20 points like UNLV did back in the day in a shi tty conference.

Sitting here watching this WVU/Pitt game, it occured to me that a Gonzaga win over either one would be something of a surprise to me.

Yep, thats what I staed above, if they played in the Big East, they'd have at least 5 or 6 losses in conference, plus the three they already have. More like a six or seven seed now if you count all those losses. I would love to see a regional final of Duke and Gonzaga though.

Upon further review of their non-conference schedule, they did play some tough teams. Only problem: They didn't beat the tougher ones. 3OTs in Maui against MSU. Maryland doesn't seem so tough now, do they?

Their biggest win was a 14-point win over Washington State, a team that has set basketball back 60 years offensively. That's their biggest win, while the schedule included such powerhouses as Idaho, Portland St. and SLU.

Combine that with the fact that they lost to Memphis, and there's no reason they should beat out the Tigers.

I think there is a lot more value in Gonzaga this year than last year...public is no longer in love with them...evidenced by them opening up as -17 know at -14.5.

Morrison is a stud...maybe the best player in the country....

Wins over Maryland and MSU and a 2 pt loss to Conn....that's something impressive like it or not...I can see Gonzaga as a Sweet 16 team this year. They kind of remind me of St. Joe's from a few years back

If Texas can play consistently they will be a tough squad to beat come tourney time. They probably have the best Trio in the nation in P.J. Tucker, LaMarcus Aldridge, and even a under-performing Daniel Gibson. I don't have faith in them right now because i have to see it to believe it, but after Saturday they might have just turned on that switch.

Gonzaga got dumped head to head against Memphis, yet you want to give them a #1 seed with a worse record than Memphis? Surely you can't be suggesting that UCONN or Villanova give up their 1 seeds for Garbanzaga?

Gonzaga proved again tonight they don't deserve a 1 seed with a 3 point victory at HOME over the very powerful and potent San Francisco Dons.

San Francisco had them beaten. Looks like we could have another 15 seed making it through the first round of the Tourney.

I am not saying that Gonzaga should be a 1-seed...a 3 or 4 seed sounds right to me. What I am saying is there is going to be a lot of value in them ATS wise. Earlier in the year, when they were playing high level competition, they were very competitive...beating maryland, MSU, OkST, Virginia, a 2 pt loss to Conn, and a competitive loss to Memphis is a good showing for nonconference...

Once the tournament gets going, I think we'll see a different Zags team.
