I see this complaint at least once a week.
"I was betting in an internet cafe. The book closed my account for using a shared IP!"
The book's rules clearly state no duplicate IPs.

It's a catch 22... what if you place wagers at libraries.. multiple libraries

It's on the first page of Bonus Whore 101 textbook. That being said, it is a legitimate answer/response to a book's complaint abt same IP's.
If the whore errrr I mean player can supply the book with appropriate identification documents and agree not to play at the "cafe/library/work/McDonald's/etc" the book has no legitimate reason not to pay what's owed. They can not prove otherwise.
If they then don't want his further action--so be it.

How many players here have placed a wager with their Iphones and haven't had their funds confiscated ever. Needless to say It's a double standard to say the least and it's not fair IMO.
I can't remember off the top of my head all the details. However I remember something about an entire city using the same IP address, and a book claimed foul in which the players funds were confiscated.

My honest first gut reaction is that it is likely a lie. That they know the person whos IP matches and it has nothing to do with an internet cafe. That said, I have to keep an open mind as it is possible. AOL and other services use the same IPs and I have to believe that sometimes this gets people in trouble, especially if they are scalpers or betting steam. Bets come in at the same time on the same play, and books freak out for good reason. But is it multiple accounts from the same group of players or more likely players chasing numbers at the same time.

Justin, since you get this a lot, could we have a list of those books, so they can be avoided during travel?
A simple solution is to bet on exchanges, like Matchbook, Betfair, and Tradesports, if you're on holiday and have to use a shared computer.

I agree with both items you speak of above Durito. Maybe if the books clarify the rule in greater detail in there T&C page, then maybe we could get a better grasp of this gray area. Then proceed and play accordingly. The problem is that they will never clarify it, because it benefits them greatly.

I've bet at a library computer before with no problems, but I only play with A books.

if you're not abusing bonuses or limitis I don't think it should be an issue... so I can bet when I'm on the road based on this rule?
