Default Big Brown Draws the 20 Post. Ouch.

No worries with him. He'll be alright. I'm gonna play the other Asmussen horse, as well, Z Fortune.

No 20th post can win, factor in your handicapping.

What's so terrible about the 20 post at Churchill? Quite a few Derby winners have won out of the auxiliary gate.

Yeah I have to agree with LT. If Big Brown breaks well I don't think the post will be all that big of a deal. He is going to go to the lead or very front of the pack. By the time they reach the turn, with his speed, I doubt he goes wide into the turn at all.

The last one being the gelded Clyde Van Dusen when they had a running start.

And what about Charismatic, Fusaichi Pegasus and and Monarchos in consecutive years (1999-2001)?

Gato Del Sol also comes to mind from the 80s.

but i suck at college basketball. I tellya though, this particular Derby looks like one to lay off and just watch. advantage to 20 hole is Big Brown will be last horse gated - to win, Big Brown will have to be far the best horse. He might just be that. He looks like an absolute stud in his workout videos (kentuckyderby.com). workout rider says Big Brown feels likes he's running on air - Desormeaux has said he's never felt a horse under him with Big Brown's power and responsiveness.

not a winner out of the 20th post since the 30's and he is inexperienced if he gets dirt kicked in his face he is done.

Blame Micahel Iavarone (co-owner of Big Brown) for choosing the No. 20 post over the available 1, 2, 18, 19 and 20.

If it loses, it'll be all on him.

True enough. All I heard is they were worried bout being pinched on the rail, so avoided the 1, 2 holes. Sure there's more to the story - do you know ?
