Interesting list. I blindly tail donjuan, myself, and must admit that I make an absolute KILLING.

Not at all. I use my telepathic powers to read their picks and it has been bery bery good to me so far. I always admire cappers who are successful without posting picks. I am in awe of their success and want to emulate them.

Thanks Pavy, but I rarely post picks. I know a lot of guys tailed me blindly yesterday on my tennis play which may be influencing why you placed me at #1.

Personally, I try to provide more commentary in the form of insights and analysis. I never bash anyone for their picks just b/c I don't really post mine. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope everyone comes through.

If you are so interested, you can find some of my "picks" in various contests I occasionally play here. Not that those have anything to do with "handicapping"

Posters that do NOT post plays always win and are just sharper than the rest of us. They keep their picks to themselves because SO MANY people would follow them and hurt their prices..

Vegas and the offshore industry would definitely change worldwide lines after seeing what these random internet posters picks are. LOL

For some reason I think people like donjuan and Mr.X among others really believe this..

Buddybear has offered his selections on here before.. He's pretty honest and doesn't go around acting like he's God gift to handicapping like some others here do.

Donjuan's a smart kid and all, but I'd rather have Flamers back around.

This is true. I think the new blood chased off a lot of the regulars but BB still hangs around, albeit in a more limited capacity.

There's a lot more to it than that. I'm sorry but if I've worked my ass off to develop a model, or to find an angle -- I'm not about to share it. The market tends to adjust to these sorts of things when made public.

On the other hand, I've shared plenty of relevant info on this site, including the occasional "pick" or so. Very little of what I do involves trying to pick winners so posting in such threads is not particularly relevant for me.

Very nice post imgv94. I used to post plenty of picks and win occasionally but ever since I started using the donjuan theorem of winning, to paraphrase Pythagorean, I have seen my winnings skyrocket. Silence is golden in the forum posting business.

No doubt, one poster more than anything is the cause of that.

You have to look REALLY, REALLY closely. I mean REALLY closely. He posts his picks in white font so it kind of blends in with the background. I recommend scouring his posts with a mirror, night vision goggles and a blacklight. Also, have you seen the movie "A Beautiful Mind"? I think donjuan embeds codes containing his plays in ordinary posts. If he replies to this thread, I'll decode for you.

donjuan thinks Vegas will change their lines if he posts plays.

I don't get this list...is he being sarcastic or not. I have nothing against anyone on the list but if he is trying to be sarcastic then why is Rake on the list? IMO Rake is a pretty good NBA capper and does good with totals as well.

Actually, I haven't posted much b/c I've been busy with work and school. Trust me, I am not going to leave b/c of a poster. I am not even sure what poster you guys are referring to. I like all posters on here...even Tacomax is tolerable--barely though. I agree, the faces (or handles) have changed quite a bit but that should be seen as a good thing b/c SBR is growing.

For the record, my picks today were DET -10, ATL +16, NYM -200, COL +100, & LAD +100

I think you guys are being a little harsh on DJ.

He can be a dick, but that's more b/c he has not had proper socialization skills yet. I think he has a lot to offer in terms of insights and strategies for sports betting. Some guys contribute with picks, some with just general handicapping info, some with game commentary, etc... Everyone does different things on SBR. Just the way it goes....

Diogee, to answer your question the thread is sarcastic. For the last 6 months a lot has changed in this forum. The old timers that voiced their opinion in this thread know what this forum used to be where everyone was contributing to each other's handicapping threads always positively and in a nice manner. What you have now as "cappers" are a bunch of pompous, ignorant, who has the biggest dick guys and that's why most of old timers are gone, hardly post picks, or start sarcastic threads.

Please explain what I have to do with recent changes at SBR, I've been posting here for a couple of years now.

Exactly... I still find valuable nuggets of info on here but we've lost so many good cappers... Pags was a pretty fine NCAA FB capper. Jay Edgar was fantastic w/ his NBA system (oh wow, a system that actually hit at a high % and was played daily???). It's not just that we lost a lot of good people, it's that the tone of the threads was more positive, like a craps table at The Palms on a Saturday at 2:30 AM... Everyone was rooting for each other, helping out, working together. If the word "lock" was used it was because someone had problems getting in their house. Not a day goes by where we now see LOCK, Play of the Millennium, etc.

Look, it's a different place but that doesn't make it worse, just different.

I like Durito and donjuan myself. I think Durito gets his points across without being as perhaps condescending as Donjuan, but both are knowledgeable, valuable posters to have around.

Agree with you crazyl....but, with all do respect, I think you should give proper credit to the person who first said that passage in which you've quoted. You've erroneously attributed the source to the wrong individual.

Yes, Jay Edgar may have been the best poster on here ever.

As far as intelligence, usefulness, openness, relevance, clarity, etc etc, his posts were second to none.

But I doubt he "left" because SBR "changed", he probably is just involved with other things. He was very openly not a "professional" in the sense that he considered it to ever be his primary source of income, at least at that time. Who knows what he's up to now.

But yeah let's pour a little out for a brother who ain't here.

To be honest, it never occurred to me to worry whether posting valuable picks on here would lead to a more efficient market.

The point is I have no idea what my incentive would be to give away that information on here. If I was feeling philanthropic, I can think of more deserving people to help out that the average SBR forum poster.

Why post at all then? Just to hear your cocky dumbass tell people how good your picks are, but that you're not "philanthropic" enough to share them? SBR where do you find these morons, I mean is the internet really this widely available in mental institutions?
