I do not post many plays, but this one is worth sharing with my friends on SBR.

Tonight's matchup between Gael Monfils vs. Ivo Karlovic is a huge mismatch. Despite being a giant 6'10 and the "king of aces" on the tour, Karlovic features very little outside of his serve and that serve will be negated severely on the clay surface in Monte Carlo. Monfils is too talented from the baseline, groundstrokes, an all court player, etc... Karlovic has been injured recently and his footwork was not sharp at all against Grossjean on Monday. Karlovic played a very sloppy match against Grossjean even struggling with his serve at times and won solely b/c of retirement which is the only way he'll probably advance here. Monfils could probably beat him on the hard courts these days, let alone on clay. This is a big statement match for Monfils who has been injury plagued thoughout his career. I look for him to win in straight sets against the Croatian giant and set up an intriguing matchup with Federer.

Karlovic can only serve and if you can somehow return the serve then he is useless.He can't run from side to side
On the other hand, Monfils hasn't done much ever
Price still seems fairly high on this match. Monfils is now at -211. Not great value in my opinion

Monfils is still at -189 out there. I agree though, at -212, the price is starting to get out of control.

Monfils has been injured quite a bit in his career, but he is supremely talented and really has the ability to be competitive against anyone on tour. Karlovic is nothing special. His career record is slightly over .500 and this despite the fact he has maybe the top serve on tour and holds serve higher than any other player. All Monfils needs to do is break him once in each set and he'll win.

I really like Monfils in this spot and feel confident he will cash this ticket tonight for his backers.
