A check arrived at your doorstep for $1,000, and because your ass gambled it all away, and lost every dollar, you had to return the winnings you otherwise would have cashed. So by returning the check you settle your account, continue playing knowing now that they indeed will pay, and you lose ANOTHER $1,000 and now won't fork over a payment..?
