I've managed Gyms in the past. Most women that go to co-ed gyms are looking to exercise or just sts with their female friends. The majority are taken.Based on what I've observed and experienced this is what i would suggest to improve the odds.
1. get in shape and look good. 2. Wear exercise gear that shows some muscle 3. Appear approachable, try wearing an astro cap or something like that. 4. Don't ignore the bigger girls, you may find a diamond in the rough!. 5.Tell them you're new in town and need a training partner. 6. Exercise in the mid morning greater % of MILF's and horney housewife {I don't to that but some of my co-workers did score bigtime tail** 7. Become a fitness instructor! {they come to you**. 8. Do Yoga classes and appear lost. The interested ones will be willing to give you pointers. 9. Become a personal trainer. 10. Do any dance fitness classes you find. Women love to Dance.

Thats why women's only gym stay in business. You're in the majority as most women feel the same way. Some women have told me they work out harder with males around. Those are the ones more in touch with their primate nature. You are a married woman and not looking for anything other than exercise. Thats not always the case. I observed some crazy things. Some women go to the gym looking to hook up with other women.

If I had an all women gym around me, I would have signed up there. Instead, I am stuck with Lifetime Fitness and their garbage personal training program, Body of Change.

I make a lot of ugly faces when I am working out. Even if I had a killer body that I didn't mind showing off, I would still want to belong to a gym without men.

Co-ed gyms didn't really exist till there was a boom within the fitness industry in the 80's. It was standard operation to alternate access to the gym by days. MWF men / TTHS / female / Sunday co-ed. For the bigger health and fitness chains it was more cost effective to go co/ed seven days a week.
Here in Southern California it seems like there is a gym every ten miles. The consumer has many choices.
