    Default creditwagering, bizarre experience.

Post #1, you don't have to believe me but here goes.

I first heard about this outfit about a month ago, had no intention of signing up. A friend of mine gave me a link to sbforums, said people were actually getting paid. So I figured I'd try my luck. Lost about $480, mostly on the ponies. Didn't think much of it as I talked with someone on live chat and he reassured me that I would get a 100% bonus when I payed up. This was Sunday the 6th. I get paid every two weeks, this coming Thursday(17th), so I thought this coming weekend would be a good time to square up, I never had any intention of stiffing them. Well, so far I've received 2 messages on my phone, one asking when he can "send someone over to collect." Let me tell you something, its a bit heart stopping to get phone calls on your voice mail from who knows who from Costa Rica in a clearly threatening tone. I've been gambling online since 97, and this is the first time I've got a phone call from a book. I've read a lot of good things about these guys, people getting paid etc... I'm just relaying my personal experience and I'd advise people to use caution when giving them your business.

Trust me there is not a thing they can do to you. I was involved with a group of guys in 1994 they got busted for saying they were from out of the US and were taking bets in Texas and the only way they got off was Illegal search. Maybe you rememeber them WWSB. Stay with the good guys
5 dimes and bet jam and I am sure there are more lokk ti SBR before you do anything.

OK, the part that doesn't make sense is you owed $480 on the 6th, and you "thought" it'd be no problem if you squared up in two weeks? BUT- did you contact their live chat and inform them of your intention to pay, or leave them in the dark?

Of course they're going to think you're a stiff if you don't follow up, it seems like (to them and us) you had no intention to pay until you got that phone call from the collection agency.

Why is it bizarre that they are trying to collect on their debt?

Oh, hi. Myabe I wasn't clear in my original post. Yeah, in live chat I told them that I would be sending payment in 2 weeks. Even on their website it says you have 30 days to square up before it goes to collections. So, 6 days later I start getting calls, with a guy threatening calls to my workplace, neighbours etc.. wich is strictly forbidden by law for Collection Agencies where I live, unless a court allows wage garnishment. I just found all this bizarre, especially for a book trying to establish itself. Maybe this is perfectly normal behavior, and it's just me, who knows.

It's not the book doing it, it's the collection agency. What likely happened was whoever you spoke with failed to make a note on your account, or you may have not been clear enough that you were getting paid in 2 weeks. Whatever the case may be, I don't think it's alarming that they actually go after these debts. They've paid me, I've paid them, waiting on another payout in a week. I received a 15% bonus for settling in full, and I owed more than you did, so I'm not sure about you saying they offer 100% bonuses, maybe that was something in the past...

Anyway, are you going to pay? I think you should speak to live chat again to clarify things. Maybe post the conversation here.

If it's a legitimate collection agency calling him, just start threatening to report them. If they don't stop calling, start writing letters to the appropriate gov't agencies where you live.

I'm guessing it's the book calling -- you can't send something to collection after 2 weeks, even if it's a legitimate debt -- which this isn't (though i still think it should be paid).

I'm not sure how long they wait before sending to collections. I don't intend to ever find out first hand, so we're trusting what this poster says as entirely accurate.

What I do know is they've said they don't call or do anything toward collecting themselves, they said they hired the best collection agency on the net that typically assists when people have porn related debts. That is what I was told when just casually having a conversation with their account manager or whatever. He was very candid about their plans, but I'm not sure how much they want aired here, I'm certain they'd answer whatever questions anyone had on the live chat.

WTF is a porn debt? I had and have every intention of paying them, I'm simply saying there is a right way to deal with people, and a wrong way to deal with people. This, is the wrong way.

These people who are scared must be from Kansas or something. IF, for any reason, I owed these people money, and had no intention of paying them, and they called me saying they're coming to get me, I'd tell them to go fuck their mother. Come into my house. See what happens. That's if you don't get car-jacked coming through Irvington or Newark. As soon as they kick the door down, they'll see a 5'0, 100lb crazy girl with a ny accent, and a gun bigger than her head. I won't even have to get out of bed.

I'm guessing whatever the "best collection agency" truly is -- would have no interest in trying to collect illegal gambling debts. Most reputable business (not that collection companies are) aren't interested in blatantly breaking the law. And like I said, you can't legally send a debt to collections after two weeks -- it's just not allowed. They told you that to scare you into paying. It's not illegal to buy porn on the internet, so one could surely collect on something like that.

people sending threats over the phone for a few hundred dollars??

send someone to collect?? threatening phone calls??
BTW it's a crime to threaten one's life... let him show up at the door...tell him the date and time and have a cop ready to arrest him...

I don't think it's necessarily a threat physically, just maybe the OP is interpreting it as such since the call scared him. I think they may intimidate you some but probably just call you, your family, job etc and then presumably one would want to settle. Also a debt collector may ring your bell but it's not like they'll have a gun pointed at you.

Either way, I don't see how their collection methods matter. Nobody would have to go through anything if they'd pay their debts.

A petite girl with a NY accent. Uh oh, that spells trouble. LOL I dated a few girls from NY when I lived in NJ. If I was ever in a scrap I would want one of them there to handle it for me. LOL Your girl isn't Puerto Rican is she? They are the best when it comes to throwing down with someone.

That is a great scam. Set up a web site to make it look like you are in Costa Rica. When actually you are in the US someplace. Scumbags think they can cheat you by wagering and not paying if they lose. Then you send the chiropractic bill collection agency, who's motto is "We make adjustments to the spine" to their house to collect. Great scam.

I dated a Puerto Rican girl from NY when I lived in NJ. She was awesome. Crazy as hell, but awesome. She practiced Santeria. Mess with her she will use sorcery on your ass. If I wasn't getting married next month I might even say I miss her.
