I've always loved sports but now it's got to the point where I don't even care about the games unless I have money on them, sad city.

I've always loved sports and stats so gambling just adds to it...making it even more interesting. Hopefully some day I can use it as an additional source of income.

I agree its always nice to hear "real" stories from people. I like the truth and I dislike fake people.... You think there are a lot of people living fake life here on these forums IMGV? If so... who? And not to get on your case or anything but do you think you may be one of them?

man it's too late for this but i'll try.. a lot of people on the internet try to act like something they're not. This is a known fact especially on anonymous forums like this one. Whats more common people bragging about how much money they have or people claiming they dont have much? People going around claiming to be sharps or people going around claiming to be novices? This is common sense

How could that be? I've met 100s of people on these forums and have to talked to many here on the phone.. Your question makes no sense whatsoever..

    Very weird question.. very weird

Most bet and use it as a drug or doing it to mask other problems in life, I think that goes for 80% here.

Most people on here bet for the following.

    1. So they can deposit 2k into a book and then come on here and ask " Is my money safe here "

    2. So they can say I just won 5k with this D- book "what are my chances to get it ?"

    3. To say I just received a check from my book and it is from another country ," what do I say if the bank teller asks me who it is from ?"

    4. Or to contribute to the theory games are rigged.

Me I bet because I love sports and the competition.

money won is twice as nice as money earned

The Notorious BIG said it best: "Either you're slingin' crack-rock, or you've got a wicked jump-shot." Nobody wants to work for it anymore. There's no honor in taking that after school job at Mickey Dee's, honor's in the dollar, kid. So I went the white boy way of slinging crack-rock: I became a stock broker. I became a stock broker and a fukkin professioonal gambler

"A lot of gamblers say the action replaces sex, but I really think they mean it replaces relationships and fear of socializing. We're all outcast and gambling occupies our time and we get paid for it.
For me for sure it was a way to make money an be by myself.Now.its become an obsession.I don't think its an addiction.I don't think. But then again, I have no life"

You put 110 down on basically 2 hour long coinflip in most bets to win a 100 and if you are luckier than shit you win for awhile until the odds balance out for almost everyone and you lose it back to breaking even. In the end, we do this for cheap entertainment, you place 50/100 bucks on a game that you've got a lean on and you can average 53-55% which is just good enough to break even or turn a miniscule profit. It's the feeling you get while the bets are going on that is why we bet, boredom is removed and replaced by hope riding on whether or not some black dude from the ghetto is hitting his jumper tonight or not. We transmit all our emotions to the playing field and allow it to control us, we either get great satisfaction when "the catch is made" or "they go on a run" or a great downer when he drops the pass that would've won us our bets or puts up nothing but bricks from the FT line in the last couple mins of a tight game. We place our bet b/c we all want to "root" for something in sports, but most of the games there is no particular team we want to win so we have to pick a team, put money on it and then we can want them to win and "root" them in, it gives the game importance instead of just being something to watch on TV.

Betting money on whether some black dude will hit his jumper or not and being happy or sad when he does b/c it either wins us or loses us money is DEEP? Not sure how but maybe if you have the mind of a loaf of bread it is.

I agree and that makes a lot of sense that a lot of people are fake. I would say though that on sbr people here are more real than any forum I have seen. People admitting they are barreled in and etc... Not sure why my question was weird though?

Wow, I explained this same rationale to one of my friends the other day when they asked me why I gamble

  34. #34

    I do it because:

    I like sports.

I don't like much of what TV (non-sports) has to offer.

Trying to "beat" the system is challenging and at times rewarding.

It makes watching a relatively meaningless sporting event exciting.

And FWIW, gambling is NEVER as good as sex.
