Default Problem with an "A" Book

I wont mention the name yet. I just want to run it by you guys first. I would like to say, it is not my issue. It is a very close friends issue. Here it is...........

My buddy sent them some funds (under $ 1000) via an online payment method and has done very well with those funds. He has turned a toothpick into a lumberyard. He has asked for a withdrawal and denied.

He has a problem with the online payment company and the book has to first return the deposit to the payment company before any other substantial withdrawal is made, (so they say). Problem is the online payment account has been closed. And the book cant send the initial deposit back to its origin. Should he get screwed out of his winnings? He no longer uses the online payment company. What does a guy do in a situation like this?

For those who will probably ask what his problem with the "Online Payment company is " Here it is...

The company has asked him to send all his documents to verify his identity. He has done just that.

A week later they have asked him to do it again, this time have the documents notorized , or certified by a lawyer as true copies of the original. This he has yet to do. I have told him to do this, he feels he should not have to. So the account remains "temporarily closed".

I wonder if the book and the Online Payment company are in bed together! Serious problem there! There's no way to sue in cyberspace, is there?

He should file a report on SBR, and have them look into it.

He should be able to have a check or the funds sent to him via other means.

I agree that he should be able to withdraw any way he wants. At least the difference anyway he wants. Not fair that the book holds on to all the money til this gets cleared up. Anyhow I had him send the necessary documents today. Will let you know any updates. But this is wrong..

thats the whole story, most definitely. His online payment account was temporararily closed cause he entered his DOB incorrectly when he opened the account. He has sinced sent the info they requested to confirm the minor error. But the book is using this as a reason not to pay out. He has to return only $300 to this online payment account before he can ask for a withdrawal by any other means. That sums up the whole story. The book wont process any other withdrawal until they send back the 300 initial deposit. This is not how an A+ rated book should treat their customers. anyhow I am sure it will work out.

I suppose that online payment account is moneybookers, right?

It's a regular procedure they have to verify customers, no problem with that. Now when your friend puts a different DOB they can accept his excuse or not, i've read some users that were fine and their accounts were unlocked and others where they never reopened.

The bookies usually let you withdraw by another method if your friend proves that the account is closed (in this case it's locked, different from closed). I have done this with some bookies in the past.

if it's moneybookers, i would advice to contact them by phone because their customer service by email is terrible, you will wait more than one week in most cases

Well, it is not easy notarizing copies of the original by a lawyer if you are not the person mentioned on the documents. Anyway, good luck and there should be a way...

Sounds like the book is protecting it's clients money from possible fraud. Good for them.

    Heres an update.........

Yes, the online payment company is Moneybookers.. They have received the documents that they requested, although they take so long to do things. So he waits....

As far as the A+ book is concerned , they have done nothing.
By reading some of the emails from the SB. All he got was .."We have forwarded this to our accounting dept" Since April, 08. Do they not want to pay ? Looks like it to me. He merely has to send back $ 293.00 to his moneybookers account , before he can proceed with any other withdrawals. This is bull shit..... A+ , My ass..

so your upset that a worst case scenario involving possible fraud and a MB acct being locked out temporarily resulted in a 7-10 bus day processing time delay? More than likely on MB end?

No, I was only questioning the books reasoning on why they waiting for moneybbokers before they sent him any money. I understand moneybookers side of it. But the book, I dont understand. They should have paid him despite moneybookers. Thats my thought..
