Default Canadian Bacon - Doesn't exist in Canada

    Yep, its true.

I went for breakfast at "George the Greek" restaurant on the lakeshore in Toronto today.

I had peameal bacon, 3 eggs sunny, rye toast and coffee.

Breakfast at Georges was excellent, he looked at me funny when I ordered "Canadian bacon" though. Here in Canada we don't have Canadian bacon, we have peameal bacon.

Apparently the peameal bacon served in Canada has no citizenship. Go figure.

I call it "Tasty". It's known as "Bacon".

If you think we're serious...I think you may be the only "tard" here.

I have known this for years, Canada has several other things that aren't so obvious also ah. Lucky for me I really don't care for Canadian bacon. I did however need to learn how to order a Labatt's Blue. Also off topic, I don't like the use of 1 dollar and 2 dollar coins instead of bills. It is not the same jamming a coin in a strippers thong as opposed to a actual bill.

Default They don't have american or Canadian cheese up there either!

I live an hour and a half south of the border and until recently went up there often but when the homeland security crap kicked in where you practically need a passport to cross into Canada, I gave up going there. It's an hour and a half away but it might as well be 5000 miles away by the differences in customs.Everything is different up there. It's pretty fun getting away like that now and then.

You go to a Safeway and they don't have american cheese of course but they don't call american cheese Canadian cheese either. You don't say,did someone go to the hospital, you say did someone go hospital. They pronounce schedule as shedule. There are hundreds of differences in language alone. If you order a hamburger and fries at a restaurant, they always cut the burger in half and they bring a bottle of vinegar for the fries. They call strippers shakers.

I really miss the days of 20 years ago where you could take $100 with you and stay from Friday to Tuesday and hit the strip joints, race track, gambling halls etc.and still come back with change. When the Canadian dollar was 66 cents U.S.,I used to always buy about $50 in Canadian quarters and whenever I bought anything for a few months,I would always add a couple Canadian quarters to pay with. Some video poker and keno machines in the US used to take Canadian nickels too.Hell, you had 34% extra to cut into the casinos takeout.

    Brent:

I'm 90 miles from the US border.
The homeland security situation has made me stop visiting the US as well. I haven't been to America since 2004 and it's likely I'll never visit again, too much hassle/interrogation from the border thugs (both US & Canadian). Too bad because day trips to NY or Michigan were quite common for me and enjoyable before 911.

You lucky bastards! I have to go to the Detroit/Windsor (known as the good side of Detroit) for business. Sometimes business reqiures me to cross the border 3 or even 4 times in one day. It gets to be a hassle hanging around the border quard house with Asif, Remesh, Abdulh, and the others when they say that there is no legitimate reason for a person to cross the border more than once in a day. Now they just automatically search the car and my stuff for good measure. Here's another tip. The Canadian border guards hate it when you have no cash on hand. As a American from and living near a big city, I carry no cash, but the Canadians think this is also weird.

Yep. I will probably never cross the American border again. No more games at Comerica Park. Makes me sad.

Rage, the Canadian government (in their infinite wisdom) decided to use the $1 & $2 coins with strip joint customers in mind, think about it, these coins fit perfectly into the slot - bypassing the g-string altogether!

PS: Canadian government studies have shown that a strippers vagina can hold up to $20 in $1 coins!

You have a point there but I don't like it when they make change and make me feel bad because the waitress is a skank and I don't feel like giving them a 4 dollar tip. So I end up with a Canadian dollar that has some skank juice and glitter all over it that I now have to put in my pocket.

This is not an American only problem, we here often find ourselves in this exact predicament only we are made to feel even more guilty because we are locals and not out of towners.

PS: Crossing the border 4 times a day? That is cruel and unusual punishment.

Try explaining why you needed to cross for the 3rd time and see how it goes over.
Usually I stay on the Canadian side because we have tooling shops there, but the casting shops are all over the river in south Detroit, and you need to be there in person or you will get ****ed.
