Default The DonJuan thread: Anything goes...

This thread is for donjuan to post his plays, as he is a well versed, extremely patient and calculated player who limits himself to playing only the absolute creme d' la creme of the +ev bets out there.

Or... If you just want to pass along your opinions of donjuan: e.g. donjuan is possibly the biggest douchewank f*cktard in the history of this board (apologies to strictlywinners).

Donjuan, grace us with your brilliance, oh wise sage. In other words, sac up you nutjob.

I will sell you DonJuan's plays for $5,000 a month.

I will buy them for $.01 a decade. Perhaps we can negotiate.

He can not post them , otherwise the swing would be too great when the sharps got hold of them.

So whose plays are worse, DonJuan or WE EAT FISH? Could we possibly setup a handicapping contest between both of these guys and fade the hell out of them. Could be a good way for us to make some extra money this baseball season.

donjuan and many other "wise" guys only post their winning plays after the games are over. This strategy has helped thousands of forum readers to make millions.

Funny, I was just about to say something along those lines. Donjuan is one of the "I told you..." type guys. Only thing is, he never said a word and if he did it was just a cryptic "careful with this" or "beware this..." type of comment.

If you can't understand why a serious +EV player would not want to share their plays on a public forum, then you are probably not a +EV player.

I'd say that DonJuan is a bigger asshole.

If a serious +ev player could sway an entire forum (unlikely) which in turn would skew the Vegas lines (unlikely), then he would be presenting himself with a whole new set of +ev bets, no? If he can skew lines a couple points, it would be to his considerable advantage to post plays to get a base following, then when/if the lines begin to shift because of his following, start posting the worst -ev bets as his +ev bets to skew the line in his favor and pounce on them at even greater ev.

That said, there's a tremendous difference between a disciplined, serious +ev player who actually knows how to find his edge, than say a somewhat educated theorist who spews nonsense on a message board but never posts a play. Really, what's the point of being on a sports gambling message board and not posting picks, all the while racking up nearly 1,000 posts in the process and just spewing general garbage.

I don't work 100 hours a week to give away my work for free. I doubt others are interested in doing so either.

And what exactly does one stand to gain by posting their plays?

I'd have to disagree with this. When we were running T F Z, I'd guess that most were +ev.

LOL, DonJuan is the butt of jokes for the entire forum now.

This reminds me of that scene in A Christmas Carol where all of Scrooge's family and friends are making fun of him behind his back

DJ knows what he is talking about, but that does not mean he is not a tool

To be fair though, fellows, he does know the stuff pretty well. His presentation of information and dialogue with other posters is piss poor....

I'll agree with BB here. He comes across as an asshole, but the guy does really seem to know his stuff. Few on this board come off as knowledgeable as he does, despite his demeaning attacks.

This is why I don't post plays anymore. I want to be elevated to the status of donjuans, duritos, buddybears, etc who work countless hours to cap their games only to not post their picks. Silence is greatness. Socrates and Aristotle are in awe of this forum's great ones.

    Back for a minute.

    Thanks for the compliments all.

    As for this:

he is a well versed, extremely patient and calculated player who limits himself to playing only the absolute creme d' la creme of the +ev bets out there.
What kind of moron limits himself to the "creme d' la creme" [sic] of +ev bets?

In the spirit of FJM: negative 100,000 bonus points for attempting to look educated and misspelling crème de la crème.

Or... If you just want to pass along your opinions of donjuan: e.g. donjuan is possibly the biggest douchewank f*cktard in the history of this board (apologies to strictlywinners).
    Thank you.

It is pretty funny, because by creating this thread, you've created a platform for him to receive more accolades than if he were actually posting his picks and doing well.

I don't have much self restraint when it comes to time wasting. Congrats on the Memphis win.

    hours capping games

You think I waste more than 2 minutes capping a game??? Listen, I look at the line, see where there has been enough movement for me to make a play. For example, Memphis opens up PK I play UCLA +2.5...that is the extant of my capping of that game. UNC opens -2....I take Kansas +4. That's all I am doing. nothing more than that.

You honestly think I waste time and look at FG percentages and offensive rebounding statistics or bench rotations. The linesmakers have already done all that stuff for me and come up with a fair line. There lines are pretty accurate. If I can get an additional point or two I'll play it regardless of how bad a team is.

Handicapping is a pretty big waste of time.

durito says he spends 100 hours, Buddy Bear. I think that is what pavy was referring to. I don't lump you in with donjuan, and frankly at least durito posts plays from time to time so I don't lump him in either. Donjuan posts nothing, so my question is: Why be on a gambling message board (assuming that he also works 100 hour weeks capping) when you have all the information you need and time is at a premium? What exactly is there to gain?

Personally, I doubt Durito spends a 100 hours "capping games." I think he is doing more data analysis stuff and trying to look for profitable angles based on quantitative considerations.

I think DJ makes many good points, he just does not know how to get his point accross in a reasonable fashion. That's his big weakenes. You can tell he is not a social guy at all....probably more a loner.

Theres a very big difference between a "reasonable" fashion, and a popular one. I find most of his points very reasonable, but maybe not as popular as they should be.

No offense BuddyBear but you need to learn what black humor is pal. Why will someome want to be a sports forum semi-god or a sport picks philosopher?

good point. There are way too many idiots on gaming forums for him or other number guys to have a serious audience.

More or less, most guys just bet with their gut or what they just saw on television. Some days are great, other days are bad. In the end, those guys will go 50/50 long term. Maybe a few win, but not much more than that.

    I come here for:

    1) To keep abreast of happenings in the industry -- specifically regarding specific books. SBR is the best place for that.

    2) To learn. Ganch, Justin, etc are great sources of information.

    3) Occasionally to chat with other gamblers about any variety of topics.

I assume Don Juan does the same. The fact of the matter is there lots of idiots on the internet. They are mostly best ignored, but sometimes i can be an ass.

No! As in Lewis Black the comedian.

Lewis Niles Black (born August 30, 1948) is a Grammy Award-winning American stand-up comedian, author, playwright, and actor. He is known for his comedy style which often simulates a mental breakdown or rant, ridiculing history, politics, religion, trends, and cultural phenomena.

I post out of my mom's basement and commute 1000 miles to school every day by way of teleport. I have never seen the sun and don't plan to. On Saturday nights I don't go out with "friends"; I stay in and stare at rows of binary.
