    Default Is Federer finally finished?

I know he still has the #1 world ranking, but the guy hasn't won a tournament all year and today he lost to a guy he's beaten 17 out of 19 times and lost a love service game in the 3rd set.

Pete Sampras is probably similing somewhere knowing his record might be safe for another 10-20 years or so....

No no no no no.....Pete won his last few Wimbledon's on his way down hill....Federer is a legend he breaks the record easily...I hate it , but it will happen...Like to see a little more parity in Tennis...Hate it when one guy dominates like this....Seems to happen a lot in the past 10-15 years, mens and womens..I used to go to Cincy in early 90s August to watch the big tourney there...at the time it was right below the 4 majors and up there with Moscow and Paris indoors and such...Players like Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl (my favorite...still played with this throwaway early aluminum racket) were on there way downhill but still could play and young guns like Sampras, Jim Courier, and Michael Chang all were competing well...Great time to be a Tennis fan...Now it just bores me.....

This is just a slump. It's not as if he's getting knocked out by unknowns in the first round. But his domination days do appear to be over.

Maybe Fed is really trying to win the French this year and is trying some other things to prepare for that. It would be funny if this is the year he wins Roland Garros.

It seems you barely see Federer on the Gilette commercial now - they just focus it all on Tiger.

I am surprised that noone has mentioned his mono. I am sure that is still affecting him somewhat, and he has an appointment with his doc in a few days. He probably shouldn't even be playing right now, and I am sure he will be back to his old self once the effects of the mono are totally gone.

It's a slump. I do think some guys like Nadal are getting better but expect Federer to get back on his hot streak sometime this year.
