Default Music I enjoy listening to when I'm betting on a game

    Pantera and N.W.A.

That way, if I win, I'm pumped up through the ceiling.

If I lose, I break my fist on the closest inanimate object.

    Any thoughts?

Nice. Only during March Madness do I really require the sounds of the game. Loud.

Other than that, I enjoy pumping up some sinister shit. It gets me going. Good or bad.

Robyn hates when she hears 50 Cent because it usually means something bad is going to happen. Tee hee....

Forgetting for a second that there's a 99% chance that you're a ghost... On the actual topic you mentioned I could go on for pages, literally. For a start, check out the "The thing about the women here" thread (or whatever the f*ck it was titled) if you haven;t. If you like metal, try a band called Alcest, specifically their album titled "Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde" (I'm paraphrasing here but I think that's the title). Fuses traditional metal with My Bloody Valentine/early Smashing Pumpkins era shoegaze. The Sword are a great metal band from Austin and are probably the greatest pure metal band around today (widely accepted, not just in Austin).

As for hip-hop, NWA is still pretty dope for the pure swagger, but move on to the 21st century. Check out "Illmatic" by Nas or the song "Ether" which is Nas's dis of Jay-Z (kinda like Hit 'Em Up for Tupac to Biggie). And if you're more open minded and just want good beats, flowing rhymes, etc., then check out anything with MF Doom, early Roots, early Jurassic 5, Lyrics Born, K-os, Guru, The Pharcyde, Ghostface Killah...

As for me, when I'm actually capping, doing research, etc., I like to have something chill on in the background. Just background tunes, I guess:
Pretty much everything I named in that other thread, but 2 main ones are Eluvium "Copia" and Sigur Ros (any of their albums). Also Orbital, Burial, Stars of the Lid...

If you like 3 Days Grace, you should check out any of the bands they completely ripped off (Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Helmet). Those bands were actually waaaay better and infinitely more innovative than 3 Days Grace.

Sunny Day Real Estate...yes! I forgot all about them.

I still need to listen to the list of music you told me to check out. Maybe I'll do that right now.

Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard, Mogwai, Pixies= the 4 LOUDEST Bands I've ever heard live. Never got the pleasure of seeing Helmet live, but yes, they rocked.

Yep, consider yourself on the way to enlightenment. Again, if you (or Bread) need actual song rec's for a specific artist (so you don't get turned off by 1 bad song by an otherwise great band), hit me up. That offer stands for anyone on here...

I should have mentioned Talib and Mos Def in my hip-hop section. Good call.

Saw Helmet. My buddy reached up on stage and pulled the lead singer off the stage into the pit. He was promptly escorted (manhandled) outside. LOL.

Depends on your definition. I'm 30 years old and don't consider them to be old. Old school, yes. Old, no...

It's a fun trip down memory lane until you realize how many bands have completely ripped off their sound, and while SDRE were never really appreciated, the derivative bands sell millions...
