Question Question: how much money would it take for you to stop gambling?

hypothetical situation. let's say you got a huge will, but there is clause there saying that after you recieve the inheritance, you can't gamble at all, otherwise, you'll lose the entire inheritance plus all your possessions and all your future earnings.

how big of an inheritance would it take for you to be willing to stop gambling and take it under its conditions? 1 million? 10 million? what is it?

1 million. I would miss it but not enough to pass up 1 mil

1 million sounds good, I'd probably take 500k though..

Could we invest the money without it being considered "gambling"?

2 million and I'll never gamble again. Not even a lottery ticket.

It's not about the money it about the rush/thinking we know something.

If we gambled for money we would have quit a long time ago!!

wow. i never expect people to settle for 1 million...some of you even settle for 500k. well, i think it would take me at least 20 million becuase it is kind of hard to fight the urges sometimes.

the reason i start this thread is that i think most of us are incapable of stop gambling no matter how much incentive there is. it is an illness. gambling is not about money after certain point.

I could stop right now cold turkey, but I would "retire" for a cool million.

I am an action junkie but would walk away for a mil since I would no longer have to use my time to learn how to handicap games.

I will always gamble on sports.
And I will always keep it under control.
I've been doing it for 10 years now under some pretty adverse conditions.
    Money management. Unit management.
Even if I was a millionaire I would probably still have a 10k roll to fart around with.
