I made a $100 deposit a few weeks ago into one of my accounts and turned it into $1200. I have since lost $1150 of it and my balance is now $50.
Did I lose $50 or $1150?

Well, that depends on if you value the virtual # in your account as real currency. In all reality, you did 'lose' $1150, included in that is the $100 you deposited.
If you believe the book would have paid you the $1150, you most certainly lost more than your deposit, though it only cost you $100 or whatever to do so.
It's not like you deposited that amount and lost, you deposited much less and lost the right to physically touch that money.
This brings me to the parlay players in the books here. They say so and so team lost them the parlay amount, because they covered the other 6 games, but in my eyes they only lost them the 20 bucks they had on the parlay. I like to call those tickets, grocery receipts.
But if you had built your deposit up to 1200, then you lost 1150.
