    Default Did I lose $50 or $1150?

I made a $100 deposit a few weeks ago into one of my accounts and turned it into $1200. I have since lost $1150 of it and my balance is now $50.

    Did I lose $50 or $1150?

Well, that depends on if you value the virtual # in your account as real currency. In all reality, you did 'lose' $1150, included in that is the $100 you deposited.

The thread title says : Did I lose $50 or $1150?

and now you say: Did I lose $100 or $1150?

    Which one is it?

If you believe the book would have paid you the $1150, you most certainly lost more than your deposit, though it only cost you $100 or whatever to do so.

It's not like you deposited that amount and lost, you deposited much less and lost the right to physically touch that money.

This brings me to the parlay players in the books here. They say so and so team lost them the parlay amount, because they covered the other 6 games, but in my eyes they only lost them the 20 bucks they had on the parlay. I like to call those tickets, grocery receipts.

But if you had built your deposit up to 1200, then you lost 1150.

You lost the $1,150. It is like when people are at the casino and say, "I'm playing w/ their money." No, you won the money and it is your money.

Come on, we all know you never leave the table when you are playing with their money

I once was playing poker at the casino and a guy must have gone to the cage to refill his chips 3 times...and he kept raising every hand and losing. He then said, "what the hell, they are only chips" which I find funny because he kept going to the cage to pay for more chips.

Overall you're -$50, and down $1150 from your high.

Now if you got a 100% bonus on your $100, then you're +$50

Why is -$100 an option, Betplom?

I corrected my mistake. Obviously I'm rattled from losing -

An $1150 high, that sounds about right, and they say drugs are an expensive high.
For me the most expensive drug is adreinaline.

I guess the following will summarize the above, but:

While you still have the 1150 you can't treat it as not your money. Once you've lost it, you can make yourself feel better by saying you only lost $50. But don't let that blind you to the fact that maybe when you turn a big profit you have a tendency to lose your cool or go wild (or alternative explanations)

what did you do to get it to 1150? and then what did you do to lose it all?

The short version - bet the whole hunnered and then parlayed the winnings a couple of times - then went 0-3 on three NHL games last night for the majority of my balance, I kept $50 to try and start over again.

Which is exactly where I'm at.

It depends what's your starting point is. If $100, then only $50. If $1200, then $1150. It is relative. I would go by the amount you deposited, since this is your real money.
