Default Washington St. to pull off the biggest upset of the tourney so far

    Lets look at the matchup.

Carolina's major advantage is rebounding edge. This is the third most important aspect of basketball. They are the number 1 offensive rebouding team in the country.

WAshington st. major advantage is fg percentage differential. They rank in the top 50 on both sides of the ball. This is the most improtant aspect of basketball.

The initial edge goes to Washington St.

However with Carolina being able to grab all those offensive boards they should have plenty of extended posessions and this should help them out in the fg% battle.

But, Washington St. happens to be the number 9 team in the country at not turning the ball over. This should lessen the sting of losing those extended posessions to Carolina's rebounding edge.

I like Washington St. by the slimmest of margins.

8.5 is a gift but I'm taking the moneyline baby.

A few things to think about.

Kyle Weaver is 6'6 and a versatile player. Look for WSU to find a way to make Ellington have to shoot over Weaver. As we all saw last year in the elite 8 Ellington has a green light and will keep shooting even when he's cold.

Aron Baynes is 6'10 and 270 pounds. He plays limited minutes but when he's in the game his size could give Tyler some trouble. This baynes kid is a great rebounder. Look for WSU to have a big negative in +/- score when Baynes is out of the game.

Sorry but I disagree here. I would take the points with Wash. St. but I don't see them beating UNC. The only reason I even say take the points is because Carolina might be looking ahead to the Vols or the Cards.

Ellington screwed them last year and he'll do it again. F-ing gunner against a good defense.

North Carolina is this years Florida. They are the team that is FAR better than their statistics would suggest. The sharpest handicappers I know both capped this game in the 13 point range and POUNDED the opener. North Carolina is simply a standard deviation better than any team outside of Kansas. Kansas-North Carolina would be the best basketball game since North Carolina-Illinois (05) or Duke-UConn (99). The Sportsbooks know that Sagarin or Pomeroy would take Wash St. They don't care, and with good reason. Anything could happen in a single game but Wash St. is over matched.

I am not going to over analyze this game and keep it simple. Taking North Carolina, and I'll lose happy. Washington State needs to have a lot of things happen to have this game go their way. If they get behind early like they did against UCLA or Arizona during the season, UNC will obliterate this team.

unc's defense doesnt get the respect they deserve becoz their offense is so great. wazzu's d gets respect becoz their offense is average, i say wazzu keeps it close until the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half when unc pulls away to win by 12

I came here to accept the dumbest person in the world award. I would like to thank my mom for dropping me on my head repeatedly and my dad for leaving me in the car with the windows up all those summers.

    Now for my rant.
    Hansborough 6-15 shooting.
    Ellington 4-13 shooting.
    Lawson 0 assists.

How do those three things happen and a 3 point game not breakout? I'm going to see Rochestie shooting floaters in the paint in my nightmares. At least Weaver grabbed 7 boards and dropped 5 dimes while having a bad shooting night.

I was really dissapointed errrrr......livid!!!!! to watch a patient offensive team turn into a team in love with running floaters. The running floaters to dunks ratio was something like 1/1. If you shoot that shot against a superior rebounding team you will get run out of the gym. For **** sake

And Danny Green your not helping my cause with a 6-10 15 point and 5 reb in 23 minutes show. Do you know what the score was with Danny Green off the floor? Take a FFuccking guess on who was leading in those minutes.

I can accept being wrong but Washington St. shooting 31 percent while not running their offense at all is not my fault. They were still 1 of 2 teams left who could turn Carolinas offensive into a below average unit. The other one is UCLA and I will have to wait until the championship game.

Have I mentioned that Carolina is my team. You may be wondering why I am hating on my own team.

BECAUSE I HATE WAYNE ELLINGTON. No, he didn't **** my sister or girlfriend. What he did was way worse. He cost UNC the natty championship with an 0-8 all time most selfish performance I have ever seen costing UNC a 10 point lead with under 5 minutes last year. When you are a UNC fan working as a bartender in ****ing Georgetown this could ruin a sunday afternoon. Especially when your bar is filled with with a bunch of pussies who couldn't name two players before the season started. Then these ****ers march down the street screaming Hoya Saxa. Which is the most infuriating term in the english language. And not just any street. Pennsylvania ****ing avenue. To the whitehouse. YOu might want to guess which street I really needed to take to get home that night. I still feel like a bitch to this day for not grabbing one of those kids and throwing them in front of a moving bus. Swear to god I've done it before but just couldn't be that guy at this age anymore. Oh yes and I forgot to mention that this cost me many many many dollars.

So Im on a tear to get my money back from Wayne Ellington and I had March 27th circled on my calendar. So what does the bastard do.....goes 4 for 13 like he knows he owes me money.

Now Taylor Rochestie and his gay ass running floater that a woman would be ashamed to shoot more than once in her lifetime is on the list.

And I will get my money back from Ellington, I just have to wait until next monday.

Im a bastard for routing against my own team. But if you had to put up with thousands of pussies screaming like chicks on a day in which you lost a couple of thousand dollars which rightfully belonged to you, you would hate the mother****er who did this.

    Ellington is my Buckner.

Broker, classic post. Anybody who has ever been a devoted fan of any team understands your thoughts & pain.

...and as a Bruin, I truly hope that you are correct & we get to dismantle Ellington for you.

Holding NC to 68 was pretty good, BUT no offence..So much for my +8½.

The hatingest, drunkest, foulest dude I know is an ex-bruin. We get drunk and argue about which team is the best in the country. I say UCLA he says UNC. Its the most ****ed up thing in the world. Usually ends in a fight.

Love is the best player in college basketball

Biggest yea probably, best No way. Collison is much higher on my list of best players than Love is.I think the guy that plays center for Notre Dame is a better all around player than Love.Just my Opinion.

I have a simple formula. If you miss more shots than rebounds you get and you are over 6'2 you are not a good player.

    I might be wrong though.

Collison and Westbrook are also top 10 players. This is why I have UCLA rated so high.

Of course this is in my book, which wasn't worth a damn yesterday

You obviously haven't watched UNC-Asheville...or UCLA much for that matter.

I'm a Bruin, a pac-ten homer (I suppose) and I totally agree with you on Collison. Without the college 3 pt line, he'll just be a really good short defensive guard - and the NBA has little demand for such a thing. Westbrook is by far the better pro talent.

I still stand by the statement that any GMs passing up Love - particularly those who want to run a fast break will be making a tragic mistake.

just checked back on this thread to laugh at myself and then I read that "Collison won't even be drafted"

Draft Express which tends to be pretty accurate has had him rated as a top 15 prospect for over a year now. Not saying that I think he'll be a great pro but to say he won't be drafted is a little out there.

Can anyone touch Love at this point? No

Is Westbrook gonna be a better pro than Collison? debatable

Is Collison going to be drafted? Probably in the 1st round...lottery if they win it all could be a possibility.
