Poker sucks. I've been there. It just gets old after a while.
Try going a month without it - you'll feel much better, and won't miss it.

Poker is a game of chance only and your chance of winning is no different than playing craps.

You can't seriously believe that JJ. But then again you say you can't beat sports but claim to be a professional. My belief that on line isn't rigged has certainly be shattered in recent months, but LIVE if you can't beat the casino's 1/2 NL or 2/5 NL you shouldn't play. Now if you get to the high stakes games in the underground clubs the competition is certainly much higher. It is a game of skill but as with any skill based game (sportsbetting, BJ, poker, gin, backgammon etc) your edge is not as large as you think. A good poker player probably has a 2 to 4% edge of the competition. That's all you need but that still doesn't mean your AA isn't gonna get busted when pocket 2's hits the set.
I play craps for the Rush not because I expect to win, winning is a bonus there. But to compare the two JJ, I thought you were a little brighter.

I have watched more professional poker than anyone here, when you watch the high stakes cash games all they do is take money from each other and the big winners are the guys that get the cards, it then flips to other guys at the table. I can now see poker is very elementary and you can put any guy in the game with the pros and he will do the same thing.

I still play online occassionally. I always regret it.
The rake is just rediculous.
Live isn't any better. I played at a local indian casino once, and I think they took 5-10% of every pot in rake. There's no way even a good player can win a heavily raked game without discounts of some kind.
Home games are the only way to go.

Yes, just like sportsbetting and backgammon.

online poker is ridiculous. Im working on a theory that PartyPoker stacks the deck. Not for a particular player but just in general so everybody is coming out with pairs, the pots get bigger (and rake), and when you lose its normally a bad beat putting you on tilt to play more. I get two pair or better seemingly every second hand there but 90% of the time theres a river flush or straight, its ****ed.
