For me, im a total nba guy. I feel like i know everything about the game and am very comfortable betting it. However, i always tried to bet NFL and i always lost.

So my question is, do you have and achillies heel and does your ego convince you that you can win? Or can you stay away?

Do you never get off your initial leans, especially if they are strong? Do you ignore certain pieces of information which would contradict your line of thinking? Can you think about todays card in a clear and objective manner without being bothered by yesterdays setbacks?

These things are more important than your understanding of any sport itself. For instance, I'm attached to football the way you are baskets, but it gives me no significant edge in terms of picking winners. My best advice to you would be, leave no stone unturned, get good numbers, manage funds well and give it your all. Hopefully with a little bit of luck, the rest will take care of itself. If not, stick to what you're most comfortable with.

I will be giving MLB a shot as well...I have only been capping basketball for a couple of months and would like to try MLB as well. That being said I can't wait for football season.

I love NHL hockey but I can't handicap the game to save my life. Don't know why. Grew up with the game, played the game at a pretty high level, understand the game, understand the players, know the teams, but can't pick a winner, so I just enjoy it.
I love baseball and its my favourite sport and my best at capping.
I took a bit of a shit kicking the last 4 years betting on CFB and CBB but had my first plus year this year on CFB (barely) and lets just say I'm learning CBB (down about 20 units this year, gained a few back when I discovered SBR!)

I have lost so much money on basketball in my younger days that I totoally stay away from basketball altogether. My ego can take the hit but the wallet has a harder time recovering so I just stick to the NFL and the Stock Market.

I decided to stick only with NBA - NHL - MLB and only games that meet certain parameters before I even look at it. Successful handicapping can be a labor intensive job and searching out value in all markets just seems overwhelming to me. Although I like the NFL above all sports, I do not handicap the games. As Crazl said, "being objective" is very hard for me personally in that sport so I stay away. Furthermore, only sticking with these leagues enables me to have time off away from handicapping.

So, to answer your question. Yes, I can stay away.
