    Default What's Your IQ Score?

Who's the smartest guy on the SBR boards? Can't be me?

*I last tested @ 133 (standard deviation). I think the politically correct term is "gifted." It used to be that anything over 127 was considered "genius."

Almost 2 years back I was tested by a psychologist over several sessions @ 119. Being that a professional administered the test, you would think it would be reliable, but for some reason I feel skeptical of the results. If the results were correct, I wonder if I would be able to score better had I not been dead tired every time I went in for the testing. So assuming the results were accurate, I feel like I should probably be in the 120's somewhere. Is that a fair statement? Does anyone know?

With beer I'm considered a genius.

In all seriousness, wisdom and knowing HOW TO THINK are more important than sheer intelligence.

This is going to be an utterly useless thread, due in large part to the lack of validity in the testing of many people's IQ scores and testing methods.

A more fair comparison would be to compare GMAT or LSAT scores (or even SAT and ACT scores), as they are standard for everyone across the board, and have held up as statistically valid after countless lawsuits. Two things that I've found to hold true are: 1) you're never as smart as you think you are, and 2) the more someone has to build their intelligence up, the more insecure they are about something.

    Cheers

Standardized tests are good at measuring how good you are at standardized tests, and that's about it. Not particularly useful for assessing intelligence.

These are all simply benchmarks. I think SAT/ACT scores predict your potential to due well in academia. What's more important is that you are successful in life and in your relationships.

Which kind of Intelligence are we talking about?
    Artistic?
    Musical?
    Language?
    Interpersonal?
    Introspective?
    Analytical?
    Inventive?
The ability to memorize useless bullshit and regurgitate it back on some standard test?

The only thing that really matters, is how much money you have when you choose to leave the working world. Id sooner be of a low intelligence and have plenty of money to retire with, than be smart and be on social security, JMO.

I'd rather be happy and homeless than rich and intelligent.

Yeah thats the truth...What about all these fuc*king celebs who take this MENSA test to prove their smart..and then wear these little rings around to try and prove it...I guarantee none of them passed the test but were admitted to raise Mensa's noticability...Pompous shit heads....Fu*k you Gena Davis you skank.......

The tests aren't perfect, but colleges must use some tools to decide who to admit. These tests do have a lot of flaws. I'm guessing a lot of changes will be made in the next 10-20 years. Perhaps a new test will be designed.

It has always astounded me how many of the 750+ GMAT scores come from Asian students as a percentage. It's not rare to see the top ph.D. business programs be 90% or higher Asian, simply because they can't bring in a domestic student (usally with a cutoff score of 720) without severely dropping their GMAT average. Same goes for many of the top MBA programs percentage wise.

An American high school education simply doesn't measure up, and when you throw in the size of the population of China, India, etc., we're often screwed!

I'm smart enough to know that standardized testing is the worst way to judge someone. Especially in a world of life or death.
