Thumbs up I took a ton of dogs in first round of our Brackets Contest

I liked this format we have. It was like betting moneylines early instead of pickems. What did you guys think?

I like it but it's going to make everyones bracket so simliar for the first round.

All those games that could go either way like kansas st/usc, are no brainers, unless you got USC going past the second round.

Why take USC to earn 1 point when you can take KST to earn 6!

So basically any higher seed that I didn't have advancing to the 16, I picked the dog in the first round.

There are much smarter guys than me on this site, so im sure brackets are very similar in the first round.

I still haven't read the rules yet, I filled out my bracket as my initial reactions and submitted it, so mine is likely terrible

But I am not requesting to change it, 'twas my fault

    Bill,

I like the format too, and while I'm fairly happy with the way I made my selections, I'm not certain that it is anywhere near optimal. That said, I'll discuss my strategy when the brackets are closed.

i am pretty curious of what you have to say. i'll put some real money on your strategy...if it pans out, i'll buy you a round in vegas

    Red Sux,

The way I made my picks here applies only to the scoring system for this contest. I have very different picks in a pool with friends with a scoring system that is the same whether you pick a lower seed or not.

    Mofome,

They aren't exactly super-secret. Tomcowley has the exact same first 2 rounds as me and HedgeHog has 30 out of 32 same first round games.

i def like trying to take as many dogs as i can. however, there are many times i got burnt by taking too many dogs when i could have taken an easy favorite. this year in particular i think at least 2, maybe even 3 #1 seeds will make it to the final 4.

MSU & AZ are typical good sleeper teams. I just chose to go a different route this year. We will see how things pan out.

yea but I could see that upset happen too. I was goin screwy on brackets this yr just because there are so many different things that can happen. Other years I'm usually set on something and sure about it. This year i'm all over the place.

There are some big differences in seeds where the dog happens to matchup well with the chalk. You can get +500 on a +200 play.

We want people to realize the scoring system. It will be fun if everyone picks their dogs. If your dog makes it to the last round you are sitting pretty. I liked my dogs early and went chalky after that.

You are looking good so far. My dog strategy has me in the bottom 10%. My teams aren't covering the spread never mind making it to 32!
