Default Puchasing Picks? good or bad?

I've paid for some basketball selections (since football is over) and have not had much luck. Are these guys just a buncha scam-artists? Or, does the mainstream sports-betting activist do just as well without these "sports selection services"?
I got friggin crushed yesterday with Larry Ness and his lock of the year, Georgetown over Pitt. I lost big, and paid cash for that slop. Now I'm pissed and embarrassed and in the hole.

Not trying to sound naive but why will you have to pay for a pick if it lost? Shouldn't you ask for a moneyback guarantee?

Usually a bad idea. For the few good touts to be worth it you'll need a 5 figure starting bankroll.

Most places only make you pay if you win...I've only bought a package once and it went 1-3...

Yeah. Better to lose yourself then those clowns. Another funny one is when people say this guy is 23-4 since the season. Somebody's going to be blowing up because hundred's of people have posted picks and its bound to happen.

Touting is all about promotion. But they fill a need. The average clueless bettor demands the loud mouth touts - is Stu Feiner still operating? Actually, a caricature of a tout, but apparently very successful.

I recall the pompous tout Kelso Sturgeon appearing on a horse racing radio show in California on Sat and Sun. He would give two college picks on Sat, and two pro picks on Sun.

His picks became a joke, as they consistently went into the tank. At one point he told the show's host, a SoCal horse trrainer: "It's very hard to pick two winners in a row, and I'm living proof of that."

You bet that's not what he was telling those on his sucker list.

And another vainglorious tout, on another forum, admitted that his lifetime wins ATS was about 50%. Same as closing your eyes and using a hatpin.

That other tout was, as I recall, Johnny DeMarco.

Famous for his breathless pitch, "Guys, I swear to God that I have the winner of the late game today!! Absolutely no way this tream will lose . . ."

Stupid bettors call lying touts into existence. To twist Voltaire's famous phrase about God: "If touts did not exist the bettors would have to create them."

The thing about these touts is they prey on people who know little about betting. Look in any sports annual at Walmart and their ads are everywhere. They don't ask for a lot to start, maybe $99, but when you call for the picks they constantly try to upsell you to get their $100 lock of the day or something like that. That's where they get hit.
