Glad we don't tip here in Australia, I still tip the pizza man a few dollars though. We must not let it get out of control though.

I think it is all relative !

If Waitstaff earn $2-3/ hour in US, then they must be tipped....just our culture. If it is different in Aus and Europe, so be it.

I don't tip guys making good money like mechanics, doctors, plumbers, etc.

If out in a large group in Australia we will tip at dinner.

But nothing like 15-20% expected when in the states.

Maybe round it up from $85.45 to $100 or summin like that.

A lot of the work bartenders and servers do for...well the customer ultimately is not the mere handing off of the food or drink...It is the prepping, cleaning, stocking etc. Hours before and after where there are no tips...Maybe the boss should be compensating them, but they don't and it's not like restaurants don't go broke all the time... Think of it more like a tax...Your choice really comes before you step in the establishment. You don't like tipping, don't patronize it.

Tipping in a restaurant is a LOT different than tipping somewhere else. Having to tip movers and all that is ridiculous. Having to tip servers is a fact of life.
