I really like the Devil Rays chances here. They're 6-1 so far, are hitting the ball well, and Matt Garza is in need of a rebound game with his new team, after a bad first start. Garza is traditionally a great spring player. The DRays youth, speed, explosiveness, players actually playing for positions, and Maddon's expirement on team chemistry this spring, should help propel the Rays past the slow-starting Yankees.
The Yankees will be throwing two guys who have notoriously been known for bad springs, with the likes of Mike Mussina and Jeff Karstens. The DRays will be starting Matt Garza. Yes, he's coming off a bad start, but he's a good spring pitcher who normally rebounds well, and played decently well against the Yankees when he was on the Twins in his 1 and only start against us. What I really like about the whole deal, is that I've noticed this Yankee club tends to play well against pitchers they've faced in more than 3 starts. Saturday will only be Garza's second. I expect A-Rod to also be either limited, or sit out of this back to back game with a sore shoulder.
