    Default Ovechkin is unreal.

This guy is jacked. 3 goals in the first period against Boston. 52 on the year so far. Fukked.

Hey Deuce I started a debate in another forum... think he has a shot at Gretzky's goal record?

I don't think so. Not on that team at least. If he was on Detroit and they continued to dominate, then yes.

With the way the game is played today and with the caliber of goaltending in the league i don't think he has any chance of ever hitting 92. Even if he played on the best team in the league (which isn't the Red Wings btw) i don't think it could happen for the reasons stated above. Saying that, the guy is unbelieveable and for him to do what he does in this day and age is remarkable.

Not talking about the 92... talking about the 894 career.

Ovechkin at 22 (turns 23 beginning of next season) already at 150 goals and counting.

Average 50 goals a season for 15 seasons?

Knock off some 60s now and make room for 40s later...

Ahh got ya, my apologies, tho i still stand by my previous statement. I don't believe it's possible to expect any player, even one as great as Ovechkin to be able to average 50 goals a season over 15 years in this day and age of hockey. He's obviously quite capable of scoring 50 and doing it on a yearly basis but this doesn't account for injuries that are bound to happen and the decline that will set in as he gets into his early 30's. Saying that, not since Brett Hull in his prime have i see such a gifted sniper and we may not see one like this again for a decade or so.

Ovechkin will not last 15 years in the NHL. The guy is a great player, but his willingness to hit and dish out some dirty hits will come back to haunt him. He will eventually end up like Forsberg.

How are the Wings not the best team in the league? Stats don't lie and when you're that far ahead in the Western Conference it says a lot about a team. Humor me and tell me who the "Best" team is. Thanks.

For the same reason as the last couple of years. They play in an incredibly weak division. They rack up all those regular season points but when it comes to the playoffs and they have to play a quality opponent they get beat. Not one other single team from their division is in the playoffs as of today and they get to play these teams 32-35 times a season. If we were talking the Wings from 97-02 than yes, but this team is a far cry from those teams.

    Deuce,
Wings play in the defensive minded Western conference Pal. The east is where the offensive is. I'm not saying that there is no offensive in the western conference, but that the East is offensive minded.

Is this directed towards the wings not being a good team,or how AO couldn't put up the goals in the west playing on Detroit?

The east is like the east in the nba, if the west didnt beat the shit out of each other in the playoffs the cup would be in the west every year.
Oh and i hate to say it but the ducks are still the champs, i don't like them but there built for the playoffs.

I'd place my mortgage on the Wings winning it all this year if they can stay healthy. No one can touch them.

That'd be awfully stupid considering they've been the best team heading into the playoffs a couple times in a row now only to get beaten by lesser teams.

Don't think they can beat the Ducks 4 in 7 and think the Stars would have a good shot against them, too.

This is the caveat though, when 3 of your main core, (Lidstrom, Hasek and Chelios) are at the stages of their career that they are at, in addition to Draper and Maltby, you can't expect them to stay healthy throughout the grind of the entire playoffs. Add this, to not just being good enough compared to their non division rivals, is what has caused them to get beat the last couple of years.

Hasek and Chelios are not their main core. Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk are. Without those three, that team would be 5 or 6 seed in the west. Chelios needed to go two years ago as well as Hasek. They both are playing on borrowed time.

Agreed Zetterberg and Datsyuk are, but defence and goaltending wins Cups so i was referring to that. Love watching Datsyuk play though, he's a magician with the puck.

True, Osgood will get back in his groove where he is unbeatable and with Rafalski, Lidstrom, Lilja, Lebda, Kronwall, Stuart on the line, I am confident they can do something positive this year.

    Deuce,
Junior A is differnet than Canadian Major Junior. And if you played Canadian Major Junior then there's no way that you played college hockey.

I have accomplished more in my hockey career than most. I have won state championships, mvp's, hundreds of tournament wins, I have been all over the country, the continent. Captain of the team for years pal. I have done more then most as a player. I could care a less what some guy pecking at a keyboard thinks of me.

100's of tournament wins??? OK now I know you're full of crap.

I don't think there is 1 single American born player who can boast that they have won 100's of tourneys and state championships.

If you were this good us Canadians would know who you are because hockey news travels quick in this country.

100's of tournament wins??? Surely you jest
