How many people as kids heard these words from parent-''authority figures''teachers-politicians-cops-clergy people.Apply yourself,pull yourself up by your bootstraps,work hard,put your nose to the grindstone,grin and bear it and save your pennies and someday you may get what you want out of life.

Well,when you hit your later 40's you should realize that this kind of talk was just a bunch of hooey BS talk that just kept stupid people honest and kept kids and people from all out revolt and being refuseniks.Growing up as a kid in the 60's you heard how the USSR had state run industry and were collectivist-redistributionists-socialists but you realize that the country you live in was the same way!

I see people I went to school with who were risk taking,mooching loans off the government,defaulting on bank loans under corporate bankruptcy,hitting parents-relatives and wife's parents up for money and they went under time after time welshing on debt and they rebounded to come out smelling like roses leaving their past behind after every personal collapse.

It works that way with companies too like for instance Northwest Airlines in my home state of Minnesota.They were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and the state forced the tax payer to bail them out.We even built them more structural facilities.The people working there kept their jobs and in return they wanted to strike.Northwest went bankrupt anyway leaving some of the facilities the tax payer bought for them vacant.The common shareholders shares became worthless.Northwest issued new shares after bankruptcy and now are a new company planning a merger with Delta.

Now we have the U.S.Adoing the same thing where they ran the country-dollar-economy-culture in the ground,will reorganize and start over again and we will become the new north american union.

It's too bad that everyone else besides yourself weren't held accountable to hold their nose to the grindstone,apply themselves,save their pennies,work hard,pull themselves up by their bootstraps,yada,yada,yada.

This is a pretty good post... I am impressed with the analogy of Northwest and the U S of.... That's very good...

By the way I agree that when you get older you begin to realize that all the sh*t that was taught to you is a bunch of garbage...

It also wasn't surprising to see "Lou Dobbs" in there... He just hates it but I like the idea personally...
