Lightbulb The SBR Best Bet FEEDBACK THREAD #2

I'd like to get some more feedback on the popular BEST BET Thread.

As more and more best bets are posted, I will soon be able to start posting some statistics for the group along with the daily standings. But it might still be too early for that.

    1) Would you like to see any changes?
    2) How can we make it even better?

All suggestions, critical and noncritical, are welcome!

    Thank you.

** I think it's a great thread that no doubt takes a lot of work for those keeping standings on it (yourself, diogee, and LK1). The one thing I'd like to see is perhaps just units shown. Money is the only thing that matters in this business, and it should be the only thing that matters in this contest.

If you're 10-5, but are down big money due to all your plays being 1/4 or better favorites, you're simply not that good of a capper. Conversely, the best capper I know (who has been in Vegas for over a decade raking in the money) has a losing overall record every year in baseball. With baseball season coming up, I think it's especially important to highlight units.

    Cheers **...

    BB,

Are you serious? UNITS are posted everyday! In fact the standings are based on UNITS won/lost.

    BB,

You don't want us to track the records?

Have to disagree w/ you on this bud.

Units are still shown, and standings are posted in order of units won/lost

    BB,

    I misread. I apologize.

I think its important to keep records and units won/lost; not just the units.

Someone could be 2-18 +2.00 units after 20 plays because he plays +1000 dogs daily. That is very misleading IMO.

Yes, in essence he is up +2.00 units...but you know what I mean.

I like it how it is....the only thing I didn't like was that 1-8 start

Well % is a given. But thats later. We need a lot more plays.

I was thinking I can track how guys do on home vs road bets. Or favorites vs dogs. I can get group consensus and also break it down daily how the group did as a whole.

    Etc...

this should be kept simple and straight to the point. NO ML only point spreads. 1 play per day. and forget about the units it's going to be -105 to -115 if its the point spread. just keep it simple and to the point. wins vs losses.

That won't work with MLB coming up.

That doesnt work with baseball coming. Thats why we have to keep units. Baseball isnt ATS.

There is defintley nothing that needs to be changed, added stats can't hurt.

I would like more guys to post a pick daily.

So would I and I think more and more will. The ones that usually stop are the people who start off poorly. Some just dont come to the forum daily. Some dont have a best bet to post everyday either. I think with baseball on the way we will have more and more people participating.

Right now I think we have around 80 that have made at least 1 Best Bet. We are still getting around 30 daily. Thats great participation!

I understand your point about appreciating both **. However, I think percentages are a VERY misleading statistic. You can be 55% in MLB and be way down for the year, or be 47% and having an excellent season.

I understand your point about being 2-18 with +1000 MLs and being up 2 units, but I don't think any cappers who play like this should be punished. There are people who spot-bet undervalued dogs and are willing to play their MLs if they believe it's a winning bet long-term who do quite well.

Again, it all comes down to simply are you winning or losing $$$, and I hope the contest always continues to emphasize units won or lost as the be all/end all. Thanks **, it's great to be able to discuss and fine tune as time goes on...

    Suggestion,

How about posting the board # as well since some college schools have the same name as the pro teams. . .

Only takes a second and also looks more offical, and takes away grading issues as well.

yeah this is true. i would like to see in the baseball season, that you can't play a fav at higher then -160. you can play -1.5 spreads in Hockey and Baseball to eliminate playing a heavy fav of over -200 or so.
i wouldn't worry about breaking down the Stats anymore than you guys already do. that would be too much of a hassle.

I don't mind allowing -150 or more favs. More times than not they will lose in the long run anyway.
