Exclamation Eagles sign Asante Samuel to 6yr $57M deal

The NFL Network is reporting that Samuel received a six-year, $57 million contract that includes $20 million up front and $32 million in the first three years of the deal.

That's a lot of money. I guess the Eagles are serious.

Overpriced, overpaid. But, everyone knew it would happen. I never would have guessed the Eagles though.

The Eagles spent their money at the wrong position... They need help in their front 7 and safety. Although, when you can get a 'solid' CB and have the cap room, you kind of have to do it.

If I'm TO or Burress, I'm actually hoping they line up Samuel instead of Lito Sheppard.

Desperate to keep the home fans appeased.....flushing cash down the drain...in my humble opinion

I think that the eagles over paided. Now the pressure will be on him by the fans from the start of the season. If he doesn't come through they will turn on him quick.

I actually like this move, especially coupled with adding another DE in Clemons to the rotation. I think the Eagles are keeping Sheppard, which means they'll have three pretty damn good CBs to line up against all of today's 3 & 4 WR sets in Samuel, Sheppard and Sheldon Brown. No team will have that type of quality in their secondary. Now I still wouldn't be POed as an Eagles fan if Sheppard got tossed to get a #1 WR.

I think philly should draft a #1 wr in either the 1st or 2nd round and keep Lito. The only guys left on the market now are Bryant Johnson and DJ Hackett and I don't think either of those guys could be a #1 wr. Manningham would be a great fit for them imo.

I think they should draft a couple new sons for their head coach - maybe then Reid can keep his head in the game.

Great move for philly. Lito is one of the most overrated players in the league. Brown is better IMO. Brown and Samuel now, cee loves philly for philly. Fly eagles Fly!

I actually think it is the other way around Cee. to me Sheldon Brown is an average corner at best.
