This is a very interesting question since I don't think that golf or tennis are manly sports. Is it easier to win 20 majors in golf or 20 major tennis finals? I think tennis is harder because you play at a stadium in front of people and the pressure is intense. Golf however requires more technique because many times you are fighting the wind or the rain or the cold which will mess up your game whereas tennis match is stopped if it rains.

winning 20 majors in golf is sooooo much harder than winning 20 majors in tennis. 1) you are going against a lot larger field. 2) the environment is always changing on a golf course w/ field conditions, wind conditions, ball placement. 3) you have to be consistent for a much longer period time 4) you are controlling a much smaller ball w/ a much smaller tool (club vs. tennis racket) 5) outside of hitting a mlb pitch i think golfing is the hardest thing to do with all the variables...

Golf is also far more mental than tennis. For that and the reasons listed above I say golf.

Agreed. Assuming you consider golf a sport and sports' participants athletes, I think he's the best athlete in the history of the world.

I think between the two sports, tennis is the the tougher to try and win major championships. As with all sports, it is the state of your mind that matters most once you reach a certain level. In tennis, once you are on the court, in a 5-setter, there is no one to talk to, no one to build you back up after you just double-faulted, shanked a shot into the stands and lost your serve. Picking yourself back up when you're mentally down it tough. In golf, the golfer always has his caddy to rely on, to talk shots over with and to help keep his head in the game. In tennis, if it even appears as if a player is communicating with someone from the court, he's disqualified. As far as golfing conditions, the same weather conditions effect all the majors in tennis as well, as they are all played outdoors. And while the condition of the greens, etc., can make play different in golf, it is not as pronounced a difference as, say, playing on grass - an extremely fast surface and playing on clay - an extremely slow surface.
If you want to judge a tennis player by his ability to conquer all three surfaces, then Agassi is the best to play the game.
Just my 2 cents on two sports I both play and love to watch.

I would have to say how Tiger Woods has dominated golf in the past decade or so, far exceeds what Federer is doing right now.

While it is impressive that Federer is gathering grand slams, he has yet to win the French Open. Tiger has accomplished what many never even dreamed possible, holding all 4 golf majors at once.

Tiger has taken a sport seen by many as boring and mundane and elevated it to levels where the 125th golfer in the world is making close to a million dollars a year. The 125th tennis player in the world is making squat and worried about match fixing allegations.

If Federer is to be compared to Tiger Woods, he has to elevate Tennis to the level Tiger Woods has taken golf to (in terms of popularity and prize money), and Federer has not even come close to returning Tennis to the "Tennis Boom" days of the late 70's and early 80's where Borg, McEnroe and Connors reigned supreme.
