Default Memphis U vs. Memphis Grizzlies

What would the line be and predict the score.

They were talking about this last during the Tennessee/Memphis game. I still feel the NBA team would come out on top.

Grizzlies are terrible, Memphis has some pro caliber players on their team right now. Game would be close I think.

    foye
    warrick
    miller
    gay

each would be the best player on the Tigers. Jacobsen was as good a college player as anyone on that roster. Navarro is someone who has dominated international competition for a few years. Crittenton would be their 3rd best player. Conley is as good as any player they've got.

yeah, it wouldn't be close to being close.

memphis grizzles no question...you cant compare two different levels of sports...any college team would dominate any high school team and any professional team would dominate any college team...meet a collegiate or professional player and talk about it...

Foye is on Minny. Im sure you were confusing him with Lowry since their both from Nova. Rudy Gay would be extremely hard for Memphis to stop. I still think they could cover the 10 points though

135 (if you think anyone on Memphis can guard anyone on the Grizzlies, you're an idiot)
70 (similarly, Memphis is not going to top 70 against a professional team of players that are bigger, stronger and better than them)

yeah, i meant Lowry, his former ncaa back court mate.

Navarro would crush memphis. Lets not forget how good Warrick, Jacobsen, Crittenton, and Conley were in college. Mike Miller would just just about whatever he wanted. I can't imagine the game would be close at all.

Memphis is overrated. They play in Conference USA. That's enough said.

    Grizzlies -17.5

I'd lean NBA, but I never give that many points.

memphis may be overrated, but its certainly not because they play in Conference USA. So, imo, not enough said. Give us something to work with.

Line would be Grizzlies -20 or so and they'd certainly cover.

This question was once brought up about UNLV in the 1990s. A college team will never beat a pro team. All pro teams are made up of college stars. Who knows if any of the players at the the University of Memphis will ever become a pro star. No way. It would be a blow out. Also think about the differences in the 3 point line and such.

The UNLV teams of 90/91 would crush any of these top teams these days.

Just thought I would add that.

Griz -alot, they would dominate. We'd have to shoot like we did at the start of the game last night to have a chance. It's sad that alot of people in memphis call the tigers we and the grizzlies them. They're a sad excuse for an NBA team

Ok well what do you guys think about football. Do you think USC or LSU some of the elite teams could have beat this years 1-15 Dolphins team?

I'd take nfl men easily. Since the game of foots is won between the lines. NFL guys are much more mature/bigger/stronger. They will open up holes like 123.

    Id say 42-3 dolphins

    COME ON PEOPLE

Grizzlies by 50 or whatever they want.

All the players on Grizzlies have made it to the NBA. How many on Memp. will make it to the NBA

Any sport all the time people bring this up. I quess no one knows how good you have to be to play at the top level.

Just look Memphis' schedule and see who they beat up. They do have a couple legit wins, but the majority of their wins on their schedule is against teams that are utterly horrible.

If you shut down CDR and Rose, then Memphis won't win.

Just look at what USC did. Even though they didn't win the game, they took CDR and Rose out of the game and had the game until the final seconds.

Very true because players like Greg Oden, and Kevin Durant stayed for at least 3 years. Rare to see a player out of high school, or 1 year in college in the NBA draft. This is also why these days so college team stands a chance.

A college baseball team might be able to beat a Major League team on any given day.

Pitching and luck can play a big part in baseball.

A top notch college pitcher like David Price could shut down an MLB team.

Douglas Roberts is better than any player the Grizzlies have on their team.

Grizzlies would prolly win the game but 20 years from now, if you compare the careers of all the players from both teams the Tigers players will have the better resumes. Rose would have been a top 10 pick in the NBA if he hadn't been made to play a year in college.
