Default BEST DB in the NFL

Raiders named CB Nnamdi Asomugha their franchise player, giving him the "exclusive" version of the tag.
He won't be able to negotiate with other teams and will get at least $9.8 million with the exclusive version. Asomugha didn't repeat his eight-pick performance from 2006 last year, but that was because opponents rarely tested the 26-year-old. Through the first 14 weeks, only 27 passes were thrown at the Raiders' left corner. Nine of the attempts were complete. Feb. 20 - 4:24 pm et

Yes, definitely. He also doesn't get the recognition of some of the guys he is better than.

I knew someone was going to say Champ and now I want to throw up.

The guy hasn't played well against a wr bigger than him in the history of his career. As a skins fan I watched big recievers embarass him and Denver is now starting to see the light.

However put him against someone he is physically stronger than and I dont know if there is a scarier player in the league because it could be 6 if he gets his hands on it.

A decade ago the spotlight was on the corners. Now the spotlight is on the safeties.

I would say their are 5 safeties better than the leagues best corner. 1 in spirit and 4 that are still with us.

there is no way you can say 5 safeties are better than a champ bailey...he seriously locks down one side of the field...i dont think ive ever seen champ not playing well consistently against anybody...he only gets like 30 balls a season thrown at him...

Sean Taylor was heading in the right direction and, of course, I can't see not mentioning Polamolu in this thread.

I'd still say Champ and Assanti are 1-2. and Cromartie may be the most athletic, althoiugh I'm not certian he could duplocate this year's numbers.

yeah but you're talking about guys who can shut down a side of the field. either way, champ is in the top few, thats obvious.

depends on how often hes thrown at. he was my fav db in that draft class. i told the vikings to take him but they went with greenway. mistake on their end.

I know you hate the Steelers, but I think it's unobjective to leave Polamolu off this list.

how can you leave Landry out mo ? He's the fastest, meanest hittin safety in the league IMO .

Bigby is probably the biggest hitter right now. Landry has a bit to go, but his potential is as high as anyones thats been in the league recently outside of #21
