OT: American Idol
Hey guys -
Some have express interest in the show for, I think, possible gambling purposes
Anyway, it's off-NFL season, so I'm writing this horsecrap. Read it, don't read it, but try not to give a girl too hard a time for earning a living!

Archuleta was outstanding last night. He's gonna be in the final 4. Hope he wins it all. Likeable, talented and young. Recording industry execs must be salivating.

could be - and he did do well last night. But the demographic for this show is generally older females and they may feel like their doing something illegal with this guy!
I think Michael Johns has a good shot. There are some who are clearly in over their heads.

I sat through 2 hours of this crap last night because I have a load of time invested in this. Nice column, probably another one tonight or early tommorrow I guess. Then it is time to look at the lines and put the money on the line for the one that I think will lose and has the best value on the board.
I must admit that this show is harder to watch than Springer, and my investment choices will probably reflect a almalgamation of several opinions that are not my own. If I left it up to myself, I wouldn't be able to pick who sucked the most.

Rage, it was brutal. The way I judge these guys is I ask myself "if I heard this on the radio would I stay tuned in or change the station?" Archuleta was the only one to pass the test for me. Hope the ladies put on a better show tonight.

From what I can see, the winner gets to cut an album nobody buys, and then half of the contestants get to ruin the national anthem at some sporting event. Up until about three weeks ago you would never catch me watching this crap. I'm more of a history channel, or Train wreck watcher myself. This is music I don't care about sung by people who nobody will remember 20 years from now.

On the whole the write-up was in line with how the oddsmakers see things, with the exception maybe of David Cook and Robbie, who are each in the 30-1 to 50-1 range to win this year (as opposed to Michael or David Archuleta who are co-favorites at around 4-1 each).

Those will change significantly as the show progresses. There is a site that monitors busy signals at the Idol phone lines as a way to tell who's getting votes and who isn't. They have David Cook in there bottom 4 to go home - it would be taking a chance to say he's leaving, but it would likely be a money-maker. Someone like Garrett Haley going home is pretty much a sure-thing.

I agree in part, but some of these guys such as Carrie underwood, Chris Daughtry, and Kelly Clarkson have made their way into popularity. I think this is the best group of guys I have seen in years and that Arculeta dude is very good and the best 17 year old this show has ever had, I think he will make it to the final 2 no question riding the tenny bopper vote

Maybe, but it'll more likely be a girl and Michael Johns as the final two.

I'll quietly root for the Texans, but tell the wife I like her pick which is the Aussie Michael Johns. I walked through the den last night when Chicken Easy was singing, and the wife was ignoring him and working on a jigsaw puzzle, so I'm guessing he gets the boot unless Affirmative Action is part of the process.

Its really too hard to tell right now but I do agree that it will be a girl and someone else in the final two and the girls have had the upper hand so we will see how the chicks do tonight.....I really think the 60's era makes it hard to get a good idea of who is the best.

He is the token black man, but he was also worse than a cruise ship singer. Could be him, but I'm guessing he gets another week.

Did anyone else think that guy Danny Noriega reminded you of last seasons Sanjaya..........I thought he was the worst of the evening but I think he will get the "not straight people" vote and stick around for a while
