LeCon spits in face of Cleveland...again
LeCon took out a full page ad, in a local Akron paper thanking the city of Akron...
no mention of Cleveland, 30 minutes north where he earned all his money.

So if a young man grows up in NY his entire life, plays ball for the Nets in Jersey in the 1st half of his career, does that mean he should sing the praises of New Jersey? He's loyal to his hometown, where he grew up, that's understandable.

He doesn't have to be joined to the hip with Ohio for the rest of his life, he made a business decision for him.
Good for him, more interested in seeing how it pans out on the court.

Solid post Lou...I'm sick of people trying to make something out of nothing over the whole Lebron thing.

The business part is where I gotta disagree with ya. Going to NY would have been a business decision, going to Miami is not a business decision, it's a decision to sacrifice a good amount of money and his legacy in order to get some rings, and I respect the hell outta him for that.

Over the life of the contract he is gonna make more in Miami than he would have in cleveland because of the city tax savings. I read a very good article on it.

Also read an article about the tax, only about a $400,000 difference in the first year of his contract, won't be too much more in the other years either Id assume.
Off the court you would think he'd make MUCH more in Cleveland seeing how he is in Wade count now. Also there's no question that his brand took a huge hit by him leaving as well...

He stole the idea from Keith Bullock doing it for Tennessee. Of course, Bullock will continued to be loved by Tennessee Titans fans and Lebron will be booed when Miami visits Cleveland.

ya, the no tax for florida is going to save lebron a lot of money. He would have been an idiot not to do it.
and im no expert but i doubt his brand took any hit. It probably did in the short team but it will get bigger playing in miami as opposed to cleveland. Once season starts everyone will be watching miami heat games.

Money doesn't really matter to Lebron anymore, he would be a billionaire before 40 no matter where he went. Miami, Cleveland, hell even New Jersey. He seems intent on developing his basketball legacy now.

Don't quote me on this, but my understanding is his contract in CLE would have been worth about $6-7 million more. I don't know what the exact numbers show, but I'm sure it'd end up about even, with a whole lot more to be made off the court in Cleveland.

well even aside from contract money their is also his endorsements. Not having to pay state income tax on that money is going to save him a shitload over the course of the next 10 years.
However, has he "officially" moved to miami yet?

Are you kidding?
The guy played in Cleveland for 7 years, they sold out the place every night. He intentionally takes out an ad only in Akron to thank his hometown and no mention of the city that supported him and his team unrelentingly and they cant get a thanks?
Siting the difference between NY and NJ is ludicrous in comparison to CLE and Akron
Name one other athlete to take out an ad thanking everyone except the city he played in.
Did Amare Stoudamire thank his hometown or did he thank Phoenix?
Zydrunas Ilguakus grew up in Lithuania...yet he took out an ad thanking the city of Cleveland.

But being in Miami he wont have nearly as much endorsements as he would in NY, or even Cleveland, so it's a wash.

Are you Kidding ME ?
Even though Lebron went about the whole "decision" thing in a shitty way...Did you see any cavs fans THANKING him? NO you saw them Burning Jerseys, cursing Lebron, hoping for failure, even the Owner writing notes talking bad about the guy who brought that Orginization back from the dumps.

Lecon is a coward... he realized he wasn't good enough to win a title without dikk riding someone like Wade.. Cleveland put plenty of pieces around him and he couldn't get it done. Now he can go be a sidekick, defer the last shot to Wade, and get a ring that way,
He forever tarnished his image with this move.

If Lebron handled his "decision" like a man, or with some heartfelt emotion.. the reaction by Cleveland would have been a lot different.
How is the city suppose to react when he had been planning this for the last 2+ years and kept the organization in the dark... he strung them out until July 8th, they couldnt go after any free agents while they waited... he couldnt even have the decency to tell the organization, he had one of his punk friends call the cavs while he was live on espn telling them "lebron needs to play with another superstar"
and as far as the cleveland fans thanking him? they thanked him every night at the arena.

it shows the difference between him and Wade. Wade was courting players like Bosh and James the last two years. He was telling management he could get them to sign. What was LeBron doing... he was busy choreographing Pre-Game skits.

Right they packed the Arena because of Him...He went out there and put on a show for them, every night(or to the best of his abilities)
Then he decides he is leaving, they go nuts and Burn his Jersey? Was that necessary ? You didn't see any news of fans thanking Lebron after he left, so why should he be thanking them?
He Carried that team for 7 years, and the fans should never disrespect him for bringing them back into the playoffs, and giving them 41 home games per year to see one of the best players of all time.
It's sad the way things went down, but EVERY SINGLE fan should STILL be praising him for being a 1 man show on a shitty team for 7 years, he should of left a long time ago. He tried to make it work, and it obviously wasn't, and the fans should realize that, and thank him for sticking around that long, allowing there kids to grow up and watch one of the greatest performers of their time.

ngates - you need to seriously get off of Ledouche's dick. Your riding real high up his nuts. Your one of the reason's pampered athletes think their shit don't stink. Why should fans bow down to a self entitled "King"? Your seriously delusional if you think he was a 1 man show. Maybe a clown show but not a 1 man basketball team. You don't win 66 games with just one guy. Stop the nonsense.
