Washing Running Shoes in the washing machine?

I have some older running shoes that are in decent shape, but they stink a little.

If I wash them, will they turn out ok? Should I let them air dry or put them in the drier?

If there is no leather wash them with cold water. You may dry them on low temperature and then air dry to get all the moisture out. Take the laces off before you put in washer and use fabric softener.

Dishwasher is better for that type of thing. I do hats in there all the time.

If you put hats in the dishwasher they will be destroyed. You can't wash hats in hot water Einstein!

If your just trying to get out the stink, put them in a plastic bag and freeze them for a couple of days. It will kill what makes them smell, JMO

But will the stink spoil your freezer food? Or will your barbecue smell like your feet?

leaving them in the sun for a few days will also kill the stink, just as the freezer probably will. don't put them in the drier after you wash them because they will dent the inside of the drier and make so much noise that you'll literally go nuts

I washed 2 pairs in the washing machine in cold water, but did not put them in the drier. Didn't think I could put up with the noise for that long.

Left them outside to dry. Since it is below freezing where I live it should have the same effect as a freezer. Good tips boys.
