I am not questioning Kobe's toughness, but the question becomes would he be helping of hurting the team playing through this? I don't have the answer to that myself, it all depends on how well he could play.

With little opportunity for realistic advancement most will, and quite often do… phone it in. Save of course the Iverson’s of the sporting world. Kobe has the additional motivation of his first (realistic) post-Shaq era shot at going deep into the playoffs. I expect Kobe will doubtless find a way to remain in the thick of things… short of course of pulling a Ronnie Lott.

some guys are just wired differently. its hard to know just how much pain someone is putting up with, but i noticed Shaqs tune change quite a bit when he was moved about a week ago. He went from being about done to someone that was ready to make a push for a title and give his all. walton really ripped him, deservedly so.
