    Default NIU Shootings

18 people have been shot and 3 are dead including the gunman. I live about 15 minutes from NIU University and party out there all the time. Have a ton of friends that are there and have only been able to get a hold of a couple of them. Im kinda freaking out right now trying to call everyone I know out there. The 3 people I have called so far said it was the scariest shit they have ever been a part of running for their lives.

What are the odds that the shooter was on prescription head meds?

I'm listening to CNN now and it said he used a shotgun. Most other guns are illegal in Illinois but that didn't stop the Lane Bryant shooter last week where he killed 6 women with a handgun. It might help if the liberals in politics and in the media realize it's your right to protect yourself and be able to wear a concealed weapon to save your life. But with the libs this as with all the shooting cases will just result in them harping that no one should have guns. That's sure going to help when mad men were given prescription meds by the government overseeing the social service industry dispensing happy pills.Do you think the shooters give a rats ass care about gun laws?

Up to 5 dead, now, including the gunman. I'm an '82 grad from there and had classes at Cole Hall where the shootings happened.

They said that the shooter was not a student...any idea if it was a previous student or just some other sick ****.

The sick thing is that these events are so rampant now that it's hardly even a blip on the news screen. The younger generation is so anti-social and aggressive it is really scary. We've had three campus shootings in the last week alone now. Any of you with young children make sure they get outside and socialize from time to time.

RIP to all effected by this tragedy. Here's hoping the count doesn't go up anymore

Yes... thank you for the concern. I am breathing much easier now that I know all of my friends got out of their safe and sound. However it is extremely tragic what happened out here today. Why someone would get to the point to actually just kill random people like its a video game is beyond me. My friends I have talked to are all very shook up.

Agreed. Why can't they just put their own miserable selves out. All these pale dopes playing games like "Super Columbine Massacre" on their computers now believe they can be cool in the goth world I guess.

Sad, sad situation that makes me want to puke...

Dude now days that is something I would bring up to the teacher or some faculty member because there is just way too many psychos doing crazy shit. I am not the type to nark on people and try to cause problems but when it comes to everyones safety I would bring it up. I am sure they will keep you anonymous and wont tell the kid who told on him but that is FAR from normal to see something like that written on a kids paper seriously..

Still no release on the gunman's name and possible motive. It seems the criminals have all the rights.

Next state of school shooting? I say Pennsylvania, they are overdue. Only accredited high schools or colleges/universities count.

I hope we don't find out until the really distant future, but with three school shootings in the past week it probably won't be long until we have your answer HG

Lots of shootings this month. Must be some kind of record. Still this is a random event. I don't see this incident as an indication of some rampant epidemic ravaging the country.

Three? What were the other two? US news doesn't reach CR too well. Did anything crazy happen on Project Runway I missed out on? I know everything up to Kevin getting eliminated.

Anyway, I'm actually going to parlay Pennsylvania with high school, and I'm also going to take a little on the York cityline.

Also, mark my words, within the year there will be some college kid running around with a water gun, and another gun-fanatic college kid walking around with a real gun for "protection" will think the water gun is real and will shoot and kill the other kid. And then, mark my words, the gun people will actually say that water guns should be banned on college campuses.
