of course lets speak hypothetically here...if a bookie were to have no information on you in terms of where you live and other personal information besides your name and you didn't pay up and just decided to not answer his calls and pretty much just not pay what are the chances he actually gets to you. Or are there other options he has? Just wondering here.

impossible to say. depends on the person and what you owe.

its not hard to find someone if you want to find them. if he needs the money, well, necessity is the mother of invention. in other words, he'll find a way if he needs to.

i think you will end up feeling regret if you don't pay people what you owe them. if you don't end up feeling regret, than there's not much to you to begin with.

My brotherinlaw booked a ton in the 70's and 80's and quit because when people started getting out of control with betting it was an occupational hazard that eventually the guy would have to tell his wife where the money went and bookies around town were being ratted on to the law by these women.

When you are a bookie you really try to select your clientel that are going to be safe and who you have some knowlege about their past,present and future but even with screening,there are bettors that turn sour on you.You actually don't like it when someone has a prolonged losing streak because it's your job to almost tell them that you are getting worried that you will get in trouble if their gambling gets out of hand.Then if you tell the wrong person that who may be a life long friend or acqaintence,they will get offended too.

The best one I saw was when an older fat lady used to bet with him and if she had a rough day,she would always call in to bet the last game of the day out in Hawaii to get all her money back.She was more or less steaming like in poker where she had to bet on anything available even it was practically a cricket game in Mallasia at 3 in the morning that she knew nothing about just to break even.

That depends to some extent on how the person met you. Through a mutual friend? Through a place where you hang out? At a sportsbar where you pay by credit card?

It also depends on the dollar amount you owe and the background and personality of the bookie. Some people (like me) would have a new mission in life "I'll track that honky mo fo down and make him pay if it is the last thing I do". Other people would chalk it up as a cost of doing business.

I would be willing to bet though that this bookie knows more about you than you think.

a thread like this makes online offshore sportsbooks sound alot better
