    Default Stock Market today

Hey looks like a little pop on the opening today for stocks. I still think this rally today will be on weak volume as some of the past rallies. So I'll be churning butter with the rises and falls. Hopefully they are volital enough to make it worth while. If not I'm gonna stay short. I predicted a 10,500 market back right after christmas and I see no reason to change now.

They just added BkofAma and Chevron to the Dow, and removed Altria and Honeywell.

Look for gap up and down openings for these stocks. Maybe oportunites for some quick change.

Kinda humorous if you ask me, if anything GE should have been dumped, look at its lack of performance the last 10 years, its right where it was in 98.Actually its worse than in 98 if you count in the splits since then, and the tripling of the # of shares. I guess they wont ever dump the oldest dow stock, just simply for that reason.

Have two new trades going CPST (5K) in at $1.59, reports earings today so its gonna move one way or the other after the close.

CEGE in at $1.85 (5K) looking for a .25-.35 cents here on this one.

Two for two on winning trades so far this year, lets see if I can make it 4 for 4 this week.

I think holding onto that capstone turbine is risky going into the earnings.

Im betting on the China play with them. Not sure what this last quarters #s will look like, but if they keep selling clean air products to China for the Olympics, they should give some really good forward guidance. China is really trying to clean up the smog there before the Olympics, and CPST may just make a big score there, JMO.

If it tanks, say to close to a buck I will double down on it and get out on the next pop. There is good support around $1.20-1.30 we shall see.

I bet on them about 2 years ago at about 3.00. Then got out with a stop loss. I still have been watching them flounder around here for about 2 years or so. It may be time to take off. Ikeep watching, good luck.

They have allot of bad morgage loans and are feeling snake bittin. So they find it easier to buy bonds and not loan money out. I think this will be the norm for most banking instutions going forward, regardless of fed cuts.

Im listening to the conference call right now, really good guidance, strong numbers in US, Europe, India, and China. I may just sell half my shares into a trade this week and hold the rest for a longterm play.Best quarter in companies history, yea thats what I like to hear.

Rage you may have been too early on your play, with the global warming issues being hashed over worldwide, now may be the time to grab some of this ,JMO.

I have yet to buy a stock this year. I've been butter churning the efts around following popular sectors because I think its real hard to pick just one stock now. I also think the market has some more downside to go. CAMH will be my first of the year. Usually don't pick such a shakey stock to begin with but what the hell, I've made a killing so far this year to the tune of my best year ever so far.

Default Rage, ever mess around with pink sheet penny stocks?

I was into pink sheet penny stocks a few years back and did nicely on a few, especially the gold mining and oil stocks when those words were dirty words amongst investors. The stinky pinkies are more addictive than gambling but then again,it is gambling to buy penny stock. You could get some at .0001 cent per share that were diluted as hell where you would get a million shares for every $100.Then you would get free commission trades to make it a more attractive deal. The scheister CEO's of these rinky dink companies that were living the good life off these pump and dump stocks would always say that there would be no kiss of death, reverse stock splits.A month later there would be a 1000-1 reverse split leaving you with a handful of devaluating wall paper.

If anyone wants to get hooked on minor league stock investing ''gambling''go to www.pinksheets.com It's amazing the 1000's of small companies around this country that claim to be the next Microsoft.hehe!

Rage,is that Avator photo your photo? You look like the car dealer-salesman in the movie Fargo.hehe!

Sold half of a $10,000 gold position, predicting a slight profit taking game for a couple of days. Will probably buy it back either way in a couple of days. Looks like the market has had two up days. I'll be watching the volume tommorrow because so far the up days have been on unimpressive volume. I don't think that they can mantain this rally so I'll still be looking to short when I can tommorrow when the volume gets tapped out and the market looks like it will plunge.

Rage did you here any news today on CPST? I cant find anything, traded about 5 times the normal volume, and up about 15% for no reason I can find.

Nice sell on the gold. I know alot of folks got spooked out of the markets this year, but Im having a very good year trading, and not to bad on the mutual fund front either.I personally think the worst is over for 08 and those that arent in already have missed the bottom, JMO.

I didn't hear anything about capstone that is unusual volume for no news. I still think we have one more down turn coming although it does look like a bottom has formed. Now is probably a good time to enter, but I always keep a tight stop on all my trades so I get out before too much damage is done.

can you tell me in laymans terms how you do what you do and how long you've doing this and is this your real job?

I watch charts of mostly eft that trade broad sectors of the market IWM ( small and midcap stocks), bkx( banking index), and some others to get the overall feel for market trends. Then I look at a chart for a company in a particular sector that I think money will be rolling into. The best chart is a chart that makes a "w" formation with the last leg of the "w" right at the 50 day moving average for the price of that stock. Couple this with increasing volume and the stock is ripe for a pop.

I don't do this as my job, but it really doesn't take to long to execute a trade as long as you know what to look for. Anybody could do this and I have learned that the smarter you are the worse off usually. I have learned not to over analysis the stuff.

If your going to start trading my advise is to ALWAYS put in a stop loss when you buy a stock. Know what is expected out of a stock trade in terms of price movement. Lose your opinion of the stock and let the chart tell you what is going on so you don't lose your money.

I can see why you unloaded in the mid 6 range the stochastics were overbought and the volume started to trail off. My guess is they reported, I'm not a big fan of holding a stock when they report. I have been burnt this way several time before.

Looks like my selling of gold the other day proved to be a bit premature. Another term that I don't like to be associated with. I still have half of the position and it was up about 80 bucks but I hope it has a short term correction so I can buy in again.
