Question Which SLEEPER starting pitchers will be of great value this year?

Any starting pitcher still under the radar that the books will not pay enough attention to?

Oakland usually throws out 1 or 2.

    James Shields in Tampa maybe.

    He was solid last year.

I am going to go with Bonderman and Robertson. They will have tremendous years.

Not really sure he is a sleeper anymore. Maybe last year he was a sleeper. Thing is though, with Tampa, your starter must go 8 to 9 innings. Because their pen is scary.

These guys were between -150 and -200 A LOT last year.

Bonderman is def not a sleeper. yes he was hurt last year. But anyone pitching for the Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Indians, Mets will probably be juiced up!

Yes, we need some names that can be decent to small dogs on the road. Or at home against the above mention teams by **.

I need to start looking into bases. Usually get on it around the NBA All-Star break.

Some National and Marlins pitchers will be undervalued. They arent good but the Nats and Marlins are scrappy and will be HUGE dogs throughout the year in that division!

Mark my worlds: Padilla 14.3 wins, Ramirez 13.6, Pavano 17.9 wins.

History won't repeat as far as being scrappy. They will get shit on all year.

Bonderman belongs on the list consisting of most overvalued pitchers. Guy's been a moneyburner for years, yet has the reputation of being an elite pitcher.

Matt Cain's the best 7-16 pitcher in a long time. I don't remember off the top of my head (and don't feel like looking it up), but I recall Cain being involved in numerous 1-0 and 2-1 type losses, as well as having several Ws blown by the pen. Cain's already one of the best pitchers in the NL, and I think SF will be much improved.

Scott Olsen pitched well in '06, but was terrible last season. I think '06 is a better indicator of his stuff and potential and I expect him to perform much better this season. Ditto for Jeremy Sowers, one of the few Indians' pitchers who could have some value.

Not sure if he'll have much value given that he pitches for the Sox, who are routinely overpriced, but Clay Buchholz will be Boston's second best pitcher by June. He's that good.

Jo-Jo Reyes in Atlanta has great stuff, but he prob. won't have a spot in the Braves' rotation, at least not at the outset. Also think Chuck James could win 18 games this season.

Maybe Anthony Reyes. He still has + stuff, and he can't perform any worse than last season.

This is true. Any other O's pitchers that might be undervalued by bookies?

willie bee seems to like patton, but we'll see if he gets a spot. Loewen dominated the yanks a few times and it really hard to hit, he just needs to work on his control. jeter called his cut fastball the best in the league.

Although not really a sleeper anymore, good value can be had with Zack Greinke.

Also, Braves got a kid in the Renteria trade, Jair Jurrjens (sp?) who if he can make the starting rotation, could provide great value as he would be #4 or 5 in the rotation and has good stuff if he can control it.

zito Hes bein paid the money, mite actully show somthin this year. I did a mock draft eierler 12 teams, and i found that there are alot of quality pitchers in the 100's, so stack up on some power and speed early

greinke would certainly be a sleeper. people know the name, but i dont suspect too many people think he'll have a great season.

I had greinke on my fantasy team as a rookie. I could have swore he was only throwing 91 and had a nice change. Then last season i see him throwing 97 so i was

    Marked.

I do in the long run, and with them dealing Bedard I think Patton has an outstanding shot to be in that rotation.

It's going to be interesting to see how Micah Owings comes out of spring with the Diamondbacks. Arizona isn't going to sneak up on anyone this year like last, but if Owings comes out at the back end of that rotation, he could draw some nice prices early in the season when matched against some bigger names.

The Giants are going to be dogs the vast majority of the time, and that could lend itself to some nice games to be on Cain's or Lincecum's side. Cain pitched far better than your average 16-game loser last season.

I can't imagine how good AZs staff will be if owings lives up to his potential. Haren/webb/owings will be a real nice staff. WOW
