PC guy all day every day and twice on Sunday's. Every stroke I see with a MAC is one of these artsy fags. Too cool for the rom types.

PC are for guys who just want to play computer games and talk in different voice chatrooms. Mac is for more professional type people in its applications, efficiency, and performance capability.

Macs are more expensive. Most cutting edge companies that require machines that excel in graphics, video creation, music or the like typically choose Mac. Most big time producers choose Mac systems to work with Pro Tools over Windows, and they have millions of equipment hooked up to them.

Companies may use PC in mass but I think people with more of a need for a quality machine aside from just typing, research, porn/simple apps choose Mac.

Exactly what I am saying. t is a niche. Pro Tools and Video Cut Pro are great examples of need for a MAC but that is a limited slice of society. PC's still rule. All I need is GOOGLE, PORN, GAMBLING, You-Tube and Myspace. PC's are for ****s like me that are just simple grimey.

Why are PC's slow??? Your connection depends on that aspect. Why would kids that are going to college to get a jo in real world want MAC's??? When they get that job they are going to school for they will have to use a PC so it is senseless.

MACs are only better in graphic design its pretty well known.

PCs are better and you just put linux on there instead of windows. Nothing is wrong with PC the "virus" problems occur with windows.

So while some people might think macs are better, they have 1/100th the amount of software to use. Most people admit they use a mac for business and they don't want problems. Going to linux will take care of that.

Can't you get a Mac with MS Windows? Wouldn't that make Mac better?

You can have dual drives, Boot Camp it is called. You can also purchase emulation software that can run Windows on your Mac. Personally I think everyone who is interested in a Mac should just buy an iMac, very mobile and great systems, and if you're longing for some Windows too just use your current PC or laptop separately.

I understand the Mac haters because I used to be one of them. However, after having two PCs (Compaq and a Dell), I decided to try a Mac and I will never go back to a PC. I get my work done much more efficiently and it runs just as fast as it did the day I bought it.

No, that is not the reason. As I said in my earlier post, PCs require more and can give more. The companies that can afford having in-house tech support will benefit using PCs. An advanced user will benefit having a PC. A creative type being non-technical will benefit having a Mac.

Data we can agree to disagree, PC's are just not as stable, vulnerable to much more, and the operating system is nowhere near as smooth. Aside from that, you can load a Power Mac up with 32 GB's of RAM, 4 graphics cards, 4 hard drives, and I'll take two 3.2ghz quad core processors any day over a fast PC. If you want to build a monster, Mac is where you should go. I've walked into studios with millions of dollars in equipment and seen G5's handling an assload of recording, same with film stuff. That's what led me to purchase my first G5. The PC vs Mac debate will always be there but it's an easy choice for me.

Being in the printing industry, I deal with Macs but in my off time, I build and repair PCs. Data, this is a perfect explanation.

I hear this so much it's annoying...I love all computers, I don't care which is better and why.

Crazyl, you can disagree with me on this as much as you want but this is one of a few subjects I would not recommend you to. The reason being is that tech support has been my area of expertise for a bit more than 20 years. While this alone means nothing, in most of these years I have been a guy whom the tech support guys around me turned to for support. I am not being cocky but purely based on my technical expertise and IQ I would guess that there must be about 20 people in the whole world who have a better understanding of this subject and other subjects related to personal computing. I can name two of those and I highly doubt that I can encounter one of those folks in these forum, you included.

Thank you, forgive me but I knew that. Still, being a perfectionist is hard, thanks again for noticing.

    Data,

Fine. However, I challenge you to find a PC by Dell, Gateway, any brand like that and find a machine that will out perform a Mac with video editing/music/graphics/without running into OS problems or putting a strain on the machine, assume the best machines on both sides in their respective classes. I'm not debating that you can't build a PC yourself with comparable or even better components, but I don't believe you can just go ahead and customize one like that through major companies for PC the way you can with Apple. Windows runs into much more problems too, of course being an expert tech guy that doesn't bother you but it's a big annoyance.

Crazyl, believe it or not but even such crapmakers as Dell offer very decent workstations once in a while. Note "workstation", Mac Pro is a workstation and the workstations differ from desktops.

    Speed
If you are asking about pure power then there is no much difference among major brands that besides aforementioned Dell and Apple include HP and IBM. There cannot be any major difference as they all use either the same or similar components. The fastest machines utilizing cutting edge components come from boutique manufactures such as Alienware, Biohazard, Falcon Northwest, Velocity Micro, and Voodoo, just to name a few.

    Stability
Contrary to popular belief, the Macs do crash a lot too.

    Beefing it up.
Yes, the Mac Pro has decent specs but you omit the fact that it is outrageously expensive with 32GB of RAM, more expensive than low-end servers (HP, Dell) that actually have even more impressive specs supporting more RAM and more hard drives.

    Studios
Yes, they run mostly on Macs. Not because Macs are more stable or faster but because some software titles that they use exist only on Mac platform, there is no alternative. However, the number of those unique titles is shrinking fast.

    The recent trend
Just ten years ago Macs were Adobe heaven with PCs not coming close. Running Adobe apps was THE ARGUMENT in Macs vs. PCs debates. Five years ago Adobe started defecting from Macs saying on their way out that their products run faster under Windows. See details here: http://www.news.com/2100-1046_3-1023167.html. Currently, Apple develops the vast majority of Mac applications in-house. Since no-third party vendor can compete with the OS vendor in such a small market the stagnation seems to be a likely scenario.

Most websites dont format their video for quick time let alone MACS. That is a weakness vs a pc.

When I try watch horse racing on net with MAC it is more difficult

Macs are the best for music/video/graphics editing.
